Radiator Capabilities
I'm putting together a new gaming/work rig with a w/c Classy & 980X and two w/c GTX 580's.
I have one 3x140mm Feser Monsta rads mounted at the top of the Corsair 800D and I have a Thermochill (the new kind) 1x120mm sitting on the bottom of the case between the power suppliy and the extra HDD drive bays. Dual D5's in that new Koolance 2 bay rasv so I could run 2 loops or 1 loop with 2 pumps. Problem is, I'm thinking the 1x120 won't do much more than the chipset w/o the CPU while I'm also worried that the 3x140 Monsta may not be up to both the CPU and the GPUSs. Am I wrong about either of these? I also have a Feser Duo 2x120, but I would either have to mount it on the back or cut out the lower HDD cage and slip it in the bottom. Would appreciate some feedback since it's been awhile since I've undertaken a serious water build thanks Bros I still have the two feser quads, but I'm trying to keep this one sophisiticated looking :P |
dude i'll be a really nice project system! 980 + 2 way 580!
yeah i'd say one 3x120mm per hardware i'll be REALLY cool! pump would be nice if it's like a fish tank pump of some kind... or hell if you wanna have some REAL fun get a car rad and be done with it :P |
How about a Watercool Mo-Ra?

That seems really nice but the price....
|
Very Nice Rickss. I'm building a watercooled system myself as well - and i'm fairly new at building them. Know a good reliable place to get a Mo-Ra? would like to check it out.
Have some waterblocks in mind, but what would you guys pair with something like this? Been looking at the Swiftech H2O-220 (dual 120s) & 320 (triple 120s)... and EK's equivalent for the i7 & dual EVGA GTX 570 SC based system that I'm putting together. Thnx for the post MD  |
That thing is nice Rick!

Here is where I bought mine a long time ago... http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...59_457_667_913
Can't seem to find that fancy housing shown in the thread above... http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=30141 |
dude that's a bad ass site with some real nice stuff in it man!
thinkin about gettin a universal gpu block sometime soon |

Another option with possibly more mounting options tho I have not tried this one... http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=27108 |

Yeah Rick, I've seen those German Quads and it would have been a nice touch, but I started this project with the plan of staying inside the case, which is why I bought the 3 x 140mm Monsta Lite - fits right in the top of the case and is easily a match for the Feser 4x120 Quad (one and a half inches shorter but 1 and a half inches wider)
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=27882 on top of that I own 2 Feser Quads 4x120, the Feser Duo 2x120 and the thermochill 1x120 and can fit one or the other inside, with a little modding required to fit the duo. Can't be buying that flat dude now but it would have been a great place to start:thumbsup: Maybe next time :P |
The H20-220 is a great little starter kit, especiallyh back in the societ 775 days. I've known people to use them on i7s too though. Good pump, good CPU block, just the rad kind of sucks :P Can't go wrong to use it to get your feet wet :P

Ahhh
So let me see 1 - 3x140 ? 1 - 2x120 1 - 1x120 Is that correct :Dizzy: if so .... Personally I would use three pumps, just a little pisser for the chipset with the single 1x120 3x140 GPU's and th 2x120 for the CPU All on there own loop 2x120 I doubt would be able to hold down 2x 580's at a decent clock ... I would also look to get as much Volume in the CPU and GPU loops to the tune of dual bays for each loop and just a micro or even a fill port for the chipset .... |

I'm also looking at the EK-Supreme HF (high flow) waterblock for my cpu & something pretty darn close in performance for the nb/sb chipsets as well. What would you guys do for the cpu & gpu's as far as watercooling goes? and why? -if you don't mind my asking. I'm just after the most reliable watercooling system possible (not a "starter kit") - even if I have to piece it together myself |
As far as pumps go, these so called PC water cooling pumps suck balls as far as I am concerned.... bar none there simply is not a good one made IMHO
Eheim fish tank pumps will move some water, if you are handy you just need a relay to switch the voltage and make it come on with boot up. or a 120v switch will do, just don't forget to turn it on They will whip the shit out of anything on these so called designer bend me over water cooling sites I have a 655 .... total POS my 1250 smoked this thing. george has it now. back in the day they even had a PCI card to bring it on at boot .... LOL we were making our own blocks back then.... :ohcrap:Thats as honest as I can be |

I've also got a Swifty 2x120 and a Swifty 2x120 stackable which I doubt I'll ever use :Dizzy: Keep in mind the 2x120 and 1x120 as well as the 3x140 are all either Feser or Thermochill so they're the nice big thick bad boys, not the skinny little runts like the Swifties  I had though of three pumps but decided on the following - The CPU and chipset to to the Feser Monsta Lite up top - The GPUs go/from first the Feser Duo that I mounted on the back, then to the Thermochill on the bottom of the case. OR... might split the CPUs and have one GPU and the CPU go to the Monsta and 1 GPU and the chipset go to the double rad setup Didn't use my DD 2 bay resvs caue I fell in love with this http://www.koolance.com/water-coolin...roduct_id=2025 The pumps screw into the sides and are invisible to the outside world. A third pump and resv would kill the clean but deadly look I'm trying to achieve. |
What kind of flow rate to you think these pumps can deleiver
Tubulance = WIN |
These are about the only ones I have ever used... http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=4510
|
This 900 GPH Beast has win writen all over it
Better not use those plastic clamps with this monster boys and girls  http://www.valuepetsupplies.com/Ehei...LAID=425387448 |

Nice! Seen a couple pretty sweet Koolance WC setups in person as well. The dual 5.25" drive bay res&pump setups remind me of the CM Aquagate Max. I see they're between 4.6-6GPH in terms of flow with the PMP-450S pump. They pretty awesome at cooling? Quote:

No doubt about it.
Lucky for me I am a plumber by trade ............ SS clamps =WIN don't forget to grease those O-rings For real though with the right block the tubulence caused by flow rates such as this bring abient air to another level. I have a 655 and it a weak soul, My gold fish doesn't even like it .... lol, but seriously ripping though as many blocks and rads the daawg is talking about here will take a serious pump .... |
I love my three swiffy 3x120s, have yet to fail me. Then again, I've never had a higher end rad. 2c

Hey! I got one of those :)

serious pump for serious people ...............
I am sure you will be fine, I am just disapointed in the preformance of my 655 |

Found about 4 or 5 "Uber 655's" a while ago here (I assume it's the same kind?): http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...773876d90688b2 |

That is the Overclockers way :) Seriously, would you BUY a preclocked 5GHz Sandy Bridge setup? If it cost twice as much as what you could, but was a nice tight package? Same with Rads. I wouldnt use less than a 3x120 for a 1366 CPU. Maybe 4x120 for a GT. Otherwise might as well just do air. GPUs are better heaters. I know my 580GTX runs very cool. But it has a great Heatsinks design and the air coming out the back is a great way to warm the fingers when benching some extreme air even at idle |
3 pumps would be overkill. The monsta isn't restrictive at all - heck, didn't somebody post some review claiming it was less restrictive than an equivalent length of plain 3/4 tubing? 2 D5's would be plenty, and I'd put em in series rather than separate loops. Monsta and a 120 would do you fine IMO. Heck the monsta alone would be fine if you were using any card other than 580's/480's.
Overkill is great, but if you're truly trying to make this one tidy I wouldn't sweat it too much. |
