i was wondering like how much do people here really know about repair computers? it's just i was wanna ask like how much do people know about computers? cuz we are the best team in us and ranked stupidly high in the worldwide rank in overclocking but what about real time computing? i fix computer as a part time job but what about you guys? |
I used to do a ton of it, and still do some here and there.
It sucks IMO , like they blame you if they get a virus after surfing 1500 hrs. of porn sites .... and stupid shit like that. |

I know bits here and there, can solve most problems I reckon
Am aiming to expand my knowledge though, no harm in earning a few bob on the side. |
I think with minimal savy, a user can fix most issues with google :) problem is most people arent brave enough or dont care enough to try.

The real "Best of the Best" was Tommy Lee

I usually fix friends and family computers if they ask. The thing is i don't charge. Most of the time i get a gratuity from them. But i've gotten builds from alot of those people now that they know i do it cause i like to. Teaching online savy to the general public is harder than fixing the pc's. But once they learn, then their pc problems stop.

I used to be a System Admin(did MCSE & CCNA in 2001) and now I am a Sr. DBA, so I guess I know a few things about Networking, Servers and troubleshooting.
|
I've looked into doing the CCNA, would you say it's worth it?
|

I fix, repair and build computers anytime I can. Love it. Have several certifications which got me nowhere. Didn't really teach me much that I didn't already know. Guess I should have stuck with it and took it farther but got tired of throwing money at it after awhile. To be honest, the schooling was making me sick of computers. I know a thing or two about databases or at least I think so. Seems everyday I learn something new. I helped create and maintain 3 Access databases daily on 280 prisoners as well as I am over the pc's in the 3 Oklahoma branches for the company I work for. I also try to help out here when I have a chance. Less now than what I use too. One day I'll be back in the game head strong. That's all.

I do a lot of PC janitorial services, do some repairs and flip HW.
Lately I am thinking I do not know as much as I used to though. Spending way more time on HW now, and OS/SW and SE skills are lacking. |

i have a few certifications my self as well but nothing i am doing here is effected by it, A+ is like something everyone is got, and CCNA is like networking and stuff like that witch if i have a college deg then i should be good? but idk... Quote:

MCSE - It tells you about using Microsoft Servers in a network to control Active Directory, setup DNS & DHCP servers, Microsoft Exchange. This is a must for becoming Windows System Admin RHCE - This is about Unix Administration. And is a very tough course to clear. Most of the big organisations in the world uses Unix servers, so a pretty safe bet. CCNA - System Adminstration requires one to know networking concepts as well in depth, so even if you do not want to get into networking, this certification or its knowledge would help you miles in getting a System Administration job. If you want to get into networking then there are further courses as well like CCNP, CCIE but atleast CCIE is very very tough to clear, and one would need atleast 5-10 Years of real experience in creating/managing big networks before one can think of CCIE. OCP - Once the Network and Servers have been setup, the real work of a company/software company starts, and most of these applications need Database. Access really is not even considered a Database in the real world, :P, though I have used it as well, and its GUI format is so much easier to use, but it cannot handle even average sized databases which contains thousands/millions of rows of data, and is very heavy on server resources, you will never find it being used in any Software company. But people of our age, or atleast me, I cannot think of studying for anymore certifications. I can only concentrate to study new hardware, :D, everything else makes me feel sleepy. |
well....as for me.....if everything depends on certification then am a noob...but i have been repairing comp for at least for two years now.....got an real BRAT at home[bro] whose job is to break and damage things....so u can say i save world on a regular basis:D

great info up there btw! |

My main focuses now are small repair and builds, overclocking and Access. I have no interest anywhere else or taking it any further. |
I also have A+ and Net+ certificates.
Never got a job in IT based on them. Just get jobs and end up working for way less than I should be cuz, they realize my kung fu and exploit it. |
:confused2: :confused2::rofl:confused2: :confused2:
