HELP W/ EYEFINITY

I'm trying to setup a 3 monitor eyefinity gaming rig using my old ASUS 5870, which I believe is supposed to handle 3 monitors all by itself?

I bought a 1 active DVI game port/dvi converter, used the 1 DVI port, and used the HDMI port. The HDMI port is not sending a signal so I have a dead spot :ohcrap:

Not sure if it's because I'm using the HDMI port instead of a X2 active port/dvi converter, and I've never really used ATI cards cept under the freeeze.

ADVISE please

just read a review on tech powerup that seems to say that the hdmi port should work just fine on a 3 display eyefinity. Also, didn't see any adapters that went display port to x 2 dvi. Back to work lol

What display port adapter are you using?

You must have an active display port adapter unless you have a "FLEX" unit that lets you just use 2x DVI and 1 HDMI

Googled, and HDMI does not work with Eyefinity.

I think mines a powercolor active display port that goes to a dual link dvi connector. If HDMI doesn't work, that really sucks cause checking ebay all I could find is the 1 DP to 1 DVI, none with multiple DVI outs. The review I read on techpowerup I could've swore said HDMI would work, but, they did mention you could do a 2 monitor with the DVI and HDMI - maybe the DP disables the HDMI???

Might have to drop a watered 580 tri sli into the game and solve this problem once and for all dammit :Dizzy:

Thanks dude, off to google I go

Okay.

Making sure here. you ARE using hte display port adapter?

If not then no you cant use 2xDVI and HDMI

You CAN use 1x DVI and 1x HDMI though. for third screen you need DPort adapater

*all is washed with a "flex" card though. they can use 2x DVI and 1X HDMI for eyefinity

Actually, for some reason my ASUS v2 only has 1 DVI port ????

good news is I got it working last night, just wiggled the hdmi connector in the card a little and it booted right up. Once I went through the monitor setup in Catalyist I had one giant monitor with resolution somewhere around 5620 x 1200.... kewl

Only downside is, when I play UT3 it doesn't spread itself across all screens like I had been hoping, it simply runs the game on all 3 monitors with the same scene on all three. 3 cursors too ?

In non game mode, I can move things around as if the three screens were actually one.

Neuromancer 06-16-2011 09:05 AM

Hmm have you downloaded any AMD profiles for CCC?

MaadDaawg 06-16-2011 10:44 AM

Didn't know I could. I updated the newest version of catalyst suite and had nothing but problems so I went back to the version that came on the disk... which is 2 versions old I think.

Are you saying I should be able to see a panoramic view of the game spread across all three screens?

Just watched the install video on utube again and it looks like I should be able get panoramic. Guess I'll have to go back and try the setup again, even though I have an eyefinity group that duplicates his screen in desktop mode... maybe onl DX11 games will work???

MaadDaawg 06-16-2011 12:39 PM

GOT IT

It was one of the DUH moments, so I went in and changed the game resolution to 5760 x 1200 and POOF, UT3 panoramic gaming :D Gonna take some getting used to though :Dizzy::Dizzy::Dizzy:

for three displays you can use any three ports as long as one of them is the display port.

Does the HDMI port work on it's own?

To be honest, I never tried it. It works with the eyefinity
