Never really looked into 3D, due to lack of cpu power, but am going to try and give it a go
Is W7 still king for 03?

Splave 02-12-2011 01:17 AM

Aquamark + ATI post 48** = Win7
3dmark05 = Vista

sofos1990 02-12-2011 04:08 AM

spi 1m = XP SP3 or Win7 x86
spi32m = 2k3 TW or XP SP3
pifast = XP SP3 vga drivers installed
wprime ( both 1024 and 32 ) = XP SP3 vga drivers installed
AM3 = Win7 x64
05 = Vista
03 = XP SP3
06 = XP SP3
Vantage = Win7 x86
Unigine = Win7 x64

all these with latest cards . On older cards some OSs should change for good eff.

I use full installations of windows...but sometimes BZ's light editions :p:

GeorgeStorm 02-23-2011 03:23 AM

Was wondering, which versions of the various OSs do people recommend?
At the mo I use 'tinyxx'
Wondering if there are better alternatives?
For instance BenchZowners?

64bit is a more efficient code base than x86 with x64 extended cpus.

Honestly in the next couple of generations of windows I expect we will see a move to true 64bit computing where you will need a software emulation of x86 instructions. that would be sweet and really make a nice performance increase :)

sumonpathak 02-26-2011 08:18 PM

so...that means if i move into 64bit OS...i wont have any problems in terms of benching?
am i right?
OT: what is the minimum resolution needed for running UNIGINE heaven benchmark? do i really have to upgrade my display right now?
/OT

Sure would be nice :thumbsup:

Whatever you get, make sure you get a more modern x64 OS. WinXP x64 is buggy as hell due to lack of driver support. That's what I was using before I made the jump to Vista Ultimate x64 about 2-3 years ago. When using XP x64 I was so tempted to just dump half my ram & go back to 32-bit.
And I'd definitely go 7 over Vista any day

sumonpathak 02-28-2011 06:06 AM

well.....7x64 FTW!
