939 comp at CP
I'm getting ready to hold a Socket 939 comp shortly at the home site.
If some of you can/would like to join in the fun, here's the link for the details on this: http://www.classicplatforms.com/foru...p?f=186&t=7050 See ya there! |
Dammit Bones, you're a doctor, not an optician! WTF is going on with that verification code that require Jordies visor to interpret?
Tried to check this out and register, but can't see the damned verification codes !! :Dizzy: |
never mind, Jordie stopped buy and read the damned code for me :P
THEN, I had to use an alternate e-mail address cause you don't like AOL??? jeeezz :D |
Wierd. I got in and there are all these strange headers like "socket 1", AMD K8. It's like an alien website

Took care of everything MD. You're all set. If any of you guys have a problem at my site, just PM me here. I'll take care of you.;)

Cool bones Bonez :)
|
Thanks for the interest guys.
I can't promise fabulous prizes to be awarded but I'll have something to give away, hopefully useable to whoever gets it. I'll announce what these will be before the comp begins. |
sweet i have a 939 setup in the house yay
|
umm... what CPUs fit in this motherboard?
Nevermind :P Not sure I can afford to compete - I have some DDR 400 but no mobo or Athlon chip :ohcrap: |
You can visit Starmicro's site and pick up a chip or two cheap if you'd like.
http://www.starmicroinc.net/ Be sure to read the item descriptions carefully along with the data string of each chip since not all will tell you the full story but so far I've had good luck with that site and the majority of chip's I've received have been at least decent performers with only one or two duds in the bunch. Some of the item prices are craaaaazzzzy, others are a real steal of a deal. Note that there is no telling what stepping or date you'll get, some are rather old others are really good. For example I ordered a XPM-2400 from them once and got a really good stepping and date, just about as good as it gets. Others were good to so-so or even crappy but it's really luck of the draw related to what they have and what they pick off the shelf to send to you. If you do that, all you'd need is a good MB and you'd be set. Be sure to look around for other chips too, you might find a good one for other sockets that you may have around needing a chip. |
I have listed the prize pool and the comp is ready to go, just waiting for the opening bell guys.
You know where to go if you want in on this. |

I do have a membership requirement about that but I can be a tad flexible in that department if needed. However I will have to "Hold the line" on this requirement sooner or later so go ahead, get in there (Registered) and Mr. Scott will hook you up. |
Just a reminder.
If any of you that qualify want to get in the 939 comp, you'll need to post a run in all three benchies by midnight 10-10-11 to have a shot at making the final round. That round will begin at midnight 10-11-11 and will end on 10-15-11 at midnight. In addition to what I've put up as prizes we also have a mystery prize being put up by an anomymous donor. Since I know who this person is I can promise you it will be something nice. |
