[Project] Lian Li PC-Q11

Having just about completed my main rig, [Project] Lian Li A05NB LC, I've decided to build a smaller, low power/low cost machine to act as a Home Server/HTPC. Guess we can call it the main rigs little bro. I've been accumulating parts for the past few weeks and finally put it all together. No project name as of yet since I'm not very creative when it comes to those sorts of things. I'll have to come up with something later, or not. :)

I'm no artist but more of the practical type, so that's the approach I will be taking throughout this build.

Welcome to my build log
[Project] Lian Li PC-Q11

Alright, enough of the chit chat. Lets get down to business.

The Hardwarez:
Lian Li PC-Q11
Intel Core i3-2100 Sandy Bridge
Intel 2600k CPU Cooler (don't hate :P)
G.SKILL ECO Series 4GB (2 x 2GB)
GIGABYTE GA-H67N-USB3-B3 LGA 1155
GIGABYTE GeForce GT 520 OC
Silverstone SST-ST45SF 450 Watt
OCZ Vertex 60Gb SSD
2x WD Caviar Green 2Tb

Now lets get the modding started :green4:

First up, MNPC Tech "Micro" Case Feet. Love the feet but am not very happy with the OEM placement. It looks off, way off. I'll have to remount them further out towards the corners.

http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/r...20PC-Q11/b.png

Here's the hardware test fit. Yep, it all fits and works well. Messy as all heck I know, lol. Well, its a start...

http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/r...20PC-Q11/c.png

B-Magic, Gray and Black sleeving will be used in this build. Gotta love MDPC Sleeving, its surely in a league of its own.

http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/r...20PC-Q11/d.png

Alright, that's all for now. Soon as the sleeving arrives I can get back to work tiding things up ;)

Thank you viewing,
OCM :cool3:

DrNip 10-18-2011 03:26 AM

I looked at that case I don't know how many times when I was contemplating the build before my last open case. Nice!

DOM 10-18-2011 03:46 AM

Does it blend ;)

MaadDaawg 10-18-2011 04:20 AM

Phase 1 will be Air. The reason I'm using a stock intel cooler for now is because I have a Koolance CPU-360 water block and MCP355 pump on hot standby :) Still not 100% if I'll be going the water route since its a low power cpu and gpu which can't be overclocked. If I do go water it would be purely for the fun of it without performance in mind.

Thanks, took me a while to pick this one out. Its small but big enough to stuff with water cooling goodies if I decided to go that route.

Thanks, the shitty wiring is to piss you off :P

Slapped the 2600k stock cooler on the i3-2100 since it's beefier. And yes, the 2600k does come with a stock cooler.

:P

but yeah dude i'd stay with air since you are not looking for the ultimate performance from this rig, just as a 24/7 browser like a quite little rig

OC Maximus 10-18-2011 08:34 AM

Duly noted ;)

kikicoco1334 10-18-2011 09:27 AM

Good luck on your new project. Take lots of pictures and do the best you can, that's all I ask ;)

Storage Drive #2 prepped.

http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/r...20PC-Q11/h.png

More mesh, I could always use more mesh ;)

http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/r...20PC-Q11/i.png

kikicoco1334 10-22-2011 08:32 PM

wait what the hell are you doing to that poor drive?

and NO MORE MESH!!!!!!

OC Maximus 10-22-2011 10:31 PM

Its not for the drive. Not sure what I'm going to use it for yet.

kikicoco1334 10-23-2011 01:07 AM

have you though about make the openable side a mesh too? if you do it right it may look really cool
i have always been a open window guy like a clear window but some people may not like it as much
so it's

i may go do that to the antec case i got there

Neuromancer 10-23-2011 02:16 PM

I hope that modders mesh is to hide the Gigabyte blue PCB on the video card :)

(Coulda just gone with an IGP build since its a server.... Or hell, headless for that matter!!)

OC Maximus 10-23-2011 02:59 PM

Quicky polish job.

http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/r...PC-Q11/j-1.png

First attempt at soldering mesh.

http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/r...20PC-Q11/k.png

kikicoco1334 10-23-2011 04:33 PM

holy crap dude that looks so SHINY!!!!!

Neuromancer 10-23-2011 09:00 PM

WTF. polishing your hdds but your sata power cables are shining through. LOL

just yanking your chain man, looks wild. sure your going to slap all the power cables up soon enough.

did you check to make sure you can still RMA your drives?

EDIT: please tell me that aint your 300GB vrap under that 2TB drive. wihtout ICY dock those drives get hot... will take out hte greenpower too. 55C operating temps aint snazzy for drives.

RMA? think we're past that point on them drives. If it dies I'll just get another ;)

No raptor in this rig. Its a 60Gb OCZ Vertex SSD for the OS.

Neuromancer 10-24-2011 12:09 PM

heh heh ;)

SSD is good

So what is the mesh for?

Kal-EL 10-24-2011 05:30 PM

ROFL, polishing hard drives FTW! :)

kikicoco1334 10-24-2011 06:11 PM

i think you need to weld those mesh together solder may come off
i may be wrong on that

OC Maximus 10-28-2011 04:23 PM

OC Maximus 10-28-2011 07:53 PM
