Anyone else get this from paypal?

Dear Allen Golibersuch,

In Aug 2, 2011, we sent you an email about how you were receiving personal payments for purchases.

The "Personal" payment is for sending money through PayPal to friends and family, it should not be used as a method of payment for purchases of items or services.

Since then, we've noticed that some of your customers are still paying for purchases using the Personal payment option.

As a result, we've disabled your account's Personal payment option. All future transactions will be sent through the "Purchase Goods / Services" option and standard business transaction rates will apply.

You have full access to your PayPal account and can continue to send, receive and withdraw money.

Here's how you can find more information about payment types and fees:

1. Click "Fees" at the bottom of any PayPal page
2. Click "Legal Agreements" at the bottom of any PayPal page, and then click "PayPal User Agreement." Sections 4 and 8 refer to receiving money and fees.

If you have any questions, concerns, or think we may have made a mistake, please contact us at P2P@paypal.com.

Sincerely,
Vivi
Personal to Personal Team

PayPal

OC Maximus 12-13-2011 09:03 AM

Well that sucks.

No, I haven't gotten that email yet.

MaadDaawg 12-13-2011 09:15 AM

This was a real paypal email? Not a prank from Vivi?

How can they know, unless people were putting the product down in the comment box (that's why I said Happy Holidays :D )

Don't ever put... payment for gtx 580... or it's obvious. Since both sides know what the money is for put something like IT'S A GIRL

Sucks if real Al, I'd fite the rat bastards if you think you can win it

Splave 12-13-2011 09:57 AM

my response

Im outraged,

Using personal payment has only been through use of friends and family.

Who are you to say who my friends and family are? Please prove to me that these transactions are not of my friendship or relation.

I would like the personal payment option to be reinstated immediately. I pay thousands of dollars in fees a year to use your service, you are in no way being short changed.

Regards
Allen Golibersuch

GFDuke 12-13-2011 10:59 AM

I don't think that i do enough transactions for then to get suspicious. I think it's stupid money they charge for using their service and i'd honestly would rather use the post office. That is freaking crazy. I would have said what you did. But not as nicely.

Mr.Scott 12-13-2011 12:17 PM

I can't believe they sent something like that. That's bullshit. They get enough fee money as it is. I wouldn't have been so nice either.

badatgames18 12-13-2011 12:35 PM

i think i got a warning once about that

just tell peeps to never say : "payment for... this is for the... etc"
i also mix it up and ask people to pay via payment owed vs gifts all the time

:morpheus:

can you make a new paypal? if all else fails

HybridChiller 12-13-2011 01:03 PM

what's that for crap ???

It's private for what you pay and use it, they don't have to make theyre own things of it.

Witchdoctor 12-13-2011 01:51 PM

Not on the PayPal train personally, but as much as you use It I do not think I could have been as diplomatic

What's Vivi doing there ............

Gutterz 12-13-2011 02:43 PM

I do believe that fees aren't warranted on that item even though I was charged them and now you are stating that I did not?

I do not do business via paypal, any use of it is through hobby and or pleasure.

I await your response.

Regards

Nice to know some drone that knows my address and personal information also know what kind of money I have in paypal and full withdrawal list to my bank account.

Witchdoctor 12-14-2011 04:41 AM

To continue doing business with this company will only serve to encorage this type of customer treatment in the future.

I would be telling those bastards to pound sand at this point in the conversation.

Splave 12-14-2011 04:49 AM

I know witch and I hate to bend on my principles but I use it way too much to not have it

Witchdoctor 12-14-2011 04:56 AM

Is there any other paypal type alternatives ???

If not there should be

Gutterz 12-14-2011 05:11 AM

their is but no one use's it really. Bid pay was one now its this http://www.authorize.net/ looks like they want want $20 a month for useing their services.

Neuromancer 12-14-2011 05:33 AM

There area couple.

Google checkout looked like it would have been good, but they hold the money for a few days. Which for me usually means I cant ship. Its now called google wallet

Revolutionmoneyexchange was one, its now called serve

merchantinc is another for ebay sellers.

Oh amazon payments looks promising too... going to have to look into that more

in retrospect, no, not really any alternatives. serve is the closest, but is american express CC based... not accepted EVERYWHERE.

Hmm might have to update my serve account No fee money transfers :)

rickss69 12-14-2011 07:16 AM

It's a business like any other...they are in business to make money. You would get this from any other institution as well if they felt they were being abused. Let's face it...we do at times abuse the system if it benefits us in some small way. Paypal is under no obligation to provide that "personal" option...they only do so as a small favor/incentive for their loyal customers. I dare say nobody's bank offers such a service lol. Keep in mind we are really talking chump change in the grand scheme of things here. We are getting a safe, secure and reliable service at a reasonable price as far as I can tell and I can't begrudge Paypal for their profit for said service.

Short version...straighten up and fly right Splave! :taunt:

Witchdoctor 12-14-2011 07:27 AM

Another prespective ...........

MaadDaawg 12-14-2011 10:52 AM

There's a world wide payment system the Muslims have set up to bypass banks... don't know the name of it or how to get into the system :Dizzy:

I can appreciate this, yet would you not consider the people on our forums to be our friends? Am I splavalicioushardware.com trying to scam paypal with my multi thousand dollar computer hardware business? Guess what if you get fucked on a personal transaction on paypal they dont do shit and they shouldnt do shit so they shouldnt give a shit that I dont want their shit help with these shit transactions to people I know hence personal. Trust me their support staff is less than helpful when there are legit problems with normal transactions if you've been privy to that sort of fun you know ;)

Yeah ebay/paypal monster doing me favors ROFL! Charge me to list my item fine, charge me a selling fee then charge me a paypal fee..... just to have a personal transaction once in a while get flagged as a system abuser. Thanks alot, who needs enemies.

GFDuke 12-14-2011 12:29 PM

Rick.... It's chump change to us coming out of our pockets. But it adds up to millions by the end of the year for them. I'd like that kind of chump change.

Money orders or personal check. But then it costs money for a money order and it takes time for personal checks to clear. There are choices though.

MaadDaawg 12-14-2011 12:40 PM

Paypal I got no problem with, ebay on the other hand rips you a new asshole coming and going, upside down and sideways... bastards

kikicoco1334 12-14-2011 01:06 PM

oh dear, MD we all have been there....
I sold my 2600k and somehow i only end up with 220 after all the fees it was REALLY stupid, that was the last time i am using ebay to sale anything

Think its bad for computer stuff? Higher percentages for other things, really is ridiculous. someone needs to come in an shut them down.

Unfortunately OCbay was primarily european and nothing decent was ever posted on there.

That was my point...they are in business to make money, not save you money. They provide us with a relatively safe and secure means to pay and get paid for merchandise...that is all I really expect myself. (Splave, you know you are the "gift" monster lol.)

Ebay does have some odd schemes I will admit, but if you really want to sell something and reach a lot of perspective buyers they just can't be beat. I recently sold my Shovelhead on Ebay for $7500. I listed it for seven days and it sold in five...not likely to happen on any forum if you know what I mean.

Not bad on bike under $200 in fees for 7500 price?

(course PP got you for 70 cents plus 3 percent too. )

Ebay is evil cuz, they do crazy stuff. Like for certain items charge more than 10%!!! plus, ebay started charging fees on shipping.

WTF?

As for paypal.. Lots of horror stories there. I been a seller for like 6 or 7 years though had two problems, one was my fault... buyer did not wait, (i packaged poorly and it got smashed)

Scond time the buyer said a board did not work. wnet on to tell me it was the third boardin a row they got that didnt. *ding... not the board. I told him I would help him RMA but since I did not offer a return policy for nonDOA items I would charge a fee. I could also help him RMA his broken stuff. Got mad and gave me my first negative feeback *sigh.

Guys who ebay/pp sided with? Not the guy that filed 3 charge backs infront of me...lol

PP is nice, but everytime they raise prices, you have to raise prices to list through them

the fees for shipping is ridiculous though. they are trying to protect the buyer for "i dont like it" returns and want a full refund including shipping. Paypal has not for a long time, allowed you to get fees back unless you do full refund. bastards. (same company so of course, bastards..)

EDIT: I just hate eBay more than PP

Splave 12-15-2011 05:09 AM

since august 1st payments received 41 out of 50 I paid fees on $437. I dont think Im abusing shit.

V2-V3 02-02-2012 08:04 AM

Paypal did this to me as well...

* Recommends class action lawsuit

I recently was awarded $0.87 for a class action against eBay :D
maybe you can recoup some fees!

For these reasons I use Dwolla/Amazon when available.
