New Dewar
My Dewar broke :ohcrap:
Anyone know where I can get a new 20 liter dewar for a reasonable price Looking for the kind with a cap that I can just pour out of, will they fill that type ? The one I had with the valves so you don't have to tip it over to get it out broke this morning as was just trying to test the valves the head popped right off........ :Dizzy: So I was looking to simplfy my life by just getting one that pour's out Plus they have to be 10 fold cheaper ........ looking for new not used ... anyone know a place that is reasonable please link me up Thanks |
WD, a new 20ltr dewar goes for about a grand, give or take. I've still got that 50 up for sale.

The 50 is to big for my needs though.
20 liter 1K .......... :ohcrap: I am thinking 25 liters max Need to find a better number |

but yeah WD your not going to find a new one for cheap but if i where to buy used one it would be Taylor Wharton ;) |
IDK if they would fill a "just pour out of Dewar" or not. I'd call your ln2 place and ask first before i bought one. It's really not a big deal though. Thats how i get my ln2 from the 230L dewar to my bench room.
|
you have a 230 L dewar ............ :ohcrap:
dude what's it weigh ??? Mine is 67 lbs full and is 20 liters ........... |
230L should be like 600 lbs + range
my 35L is in the 90's lbs range |
MD if i didn't have to hide my LN2 stuff i'd really take you up on that...
Witchy, i'd try on ebay that's where i got my from and it was a 30~32L for 120+shipping the shipping is where got me pretty bad ($55~60) i am pretty sure a 20L is gonna be no more then $30 |
Yea the only thing is I paid 300 for this and it failed ......... after one use ....
Problem is I had it for like 8 months before I used it. I just am trying to avoid getting another one that is not ready for prime time is my fear, Unfortunatly Madd's is to big for what I need...... :ohcrap: bad enough the 20L cost me 50 bucks to fill, the 50 L would be well over a 100 bucks a pop |
you cant fix yours?

I don't own a 230L. When i get on my delivery schedule thats what they bring me. I have a 35L and a 10L that i fill off of it. When it's empty they just come with another one and take away the empty.

Plus I have to replace the valve as that is why it broke I was trying to open it and the valve is insanly hard to turn....... At duke Excuse the language Wholly Fuck Dude !!!!! That is crazy, at what I pay it would be $ 575.00 bucks plus what ever the rental would be for the container and I have to think delivery is free when buying that much .... |

If this was your first time I'm guessing you where sold a broken one cuz I don't think there's any that come like that I could be wrong though :Dizzy: |
Pics or you didnt really break it.
The top neck plate broke and you can see the insulation? Or the piece that screws to the neck plate broke? Im guessing the former. In which case.. yeah its busted. Have to fix it (welding) and then reseal the vaccum. Which uses.. guess what... nitrogen :) cheaper to buy anotehr good one. Yeah buying "new" is pricey. I bought a 30L for like $150 shipped i think and traded it to Kal for a EVGA mobo. (which holy crap shipping a dewar to Hawaii is spensive.) Only did it cuz LN2 was like 2 something a liter here unless I go big. If you even consider paying $1000 for a 20L just go bigger and get cheaper LN2 http://www.ebay.com/itm/MVE-LIQUID-N...item3a6e692984 Holy crap that is in NJ I could pick that up!! FYI: I dont buy dewars at macys so never considerd paying $1000 for a 20L in fact I have a hard time finding them at that price (EDIT: found one for $1400 new LOL) dont limit your searches based on L size, do general searches for them you will get better results. And fill it immediately on arrival. and test it. If it dont hold it for a long time, its busted and needs to be returned :) (I imagine smaller units are actually better at holding then larger ones ) EDIT EDIT: Im an LN2 n00b and disregard all the above :) |

that been said for real take a pix and post it here i monna ask buy buddy and see what's up |
Will do guy's I will post pics when I get home from work,
yea it is not welded, it is sme type of sealant, Jor-ell sold it to me when he retired just did not get around to using it until now, turns out that was a mistake. That is why I am wondering is it a good idea to get one that just pours out, and if so would they fill one like that, I will call my local guy today and see if he has any insight, but I doubt it. I am in the same boat Rich, $ 2.25 a liter here  Thats why I need a small one 20-25 liters or I will never be able to afford to fill it |
Delivery is never free, and the large dewars gas off real quickly.
If you're at all interested in the dewar I have for sale send me a pm and we'll see if we can work something out. Quote:

LOL ........ if I was getting juice at $ 1.00 a liter I would be all over it Madd ....... the reality is though that at $ 2.25 a liter I simply would not be able to afford to fill that thing up. Then you have transport and weight that would also add to it being impractical for me to go with a 50 Liter |

My 230's will last 2 weeks under normal use. The Airgas Dewars would gas off in less than a week. |

How do the capped ones disapate pressure ? and will they fill a passive model up?
I would rather have that as then there is no BS to go wrong with it, just my style simple easy ......... That's me, simple and easy .......... Edit: Hers some pics ... the yellow valve wont turn, that is how it broke off :ohcrap: |

There is no pressure in the dewars that you can pour out of and for our purpose the stopper actually holds the LN2 pretty good. How big is that hole in the top of the dewar? You might be able to find a stopper that would fit. Its not like you're gonna store the ln2 for weeks. The stopper on my 35L Taylor Wharton is 2 3/8" round. The hole in the dewar is 2 1/2".
Still i would check and see if they would fill this type of dewar at your place before i bought it. I really think its unlikely. Like i said before i fill these myself. |

Mine has a 2 3/8" diameter , not sure what brand as it onlh has an Airgas sticker on it
I got a name of a place off my ln2 guy or should I say theif for a place in the Harrisburg that may be able to fix it ...... have a message into them and my LN2 guy looking for a rental as I am freezing these 7970's this weekend even if I have to use Dice  TBH though after benching the 280 on ln2 dice just blows ........... so I am hoping he can find something, it is like small potatoes around here, not much call for this stuff in the Amish country :Dizzy: |
Airgas. :ohcrap:
|
That's reassuring ........
What are they crap or something ? |
didn't think they made dewars :Dizzy:
|
airgas just adds a label on it if it doesnt have one, they did that to mine when i first got it filled
|
I don't know Witchy. lol, I just have a personal gripe with them. Every dewar i got from them sucked. And, they never even gave a thought to helping me out. I got a 120L or 160L (i forget which it was) from them once and it was empty in 2 days. I think i got 20L out of it.
|
Nice,
mine / before it broke lasted 3 days about 2 hours day but the card was slowing down at -65 so i did not take a lot as I benched it at -35 to -45 Well I hope I can get a rental this weekend, the ln2 dude is looking around for me but in my area everthing has to be brought in ..... so it is a crap shoot, but I have already planned to freeze these things this week and hell or high water that is what I am doing even if it has to be Dice ......... need some boints damm it :keeporder: between this dam dewar and the crap ass AMD drivers it seems like the overclocking gods are pitted against me but I will triumpf through adversitey ............. I hope  |
According to Slav, my airgas guy, if you're going to rent a dewar, rent a high pressure one instead of a low pressure one cause the low pressure ones gas off way too fast.
|
LOL ....... dude I live in the Amish country, if he finds any it may be in a 5 gallon bucket .......... or a milk carton ....

10/4 on that.

well after exstensive research I have found out what brand deware I have an also found out the evac device does not connect mechanically to the dewar rather just sits on there and it is a home brew extraction device. ... so some low temp sealant and a new valve will fix my dewar on the cheap.......... :)
drum roll please , I have scored a 35 liter for this weekend so my plans of trying to tear some 7970's this week is is game on ....... Looking forward to it and Diamond has drivers on their site now that actually work, still not paramount but workable Now it will just be a matter of execution or epic Fail, but at least I am in conntrol of my own destany ......... |
Hey congrats WD
Have fun with that 35 :D |
I got my pennie today so I can ln2 the 7970 idk if I should put the wb on first or just juice the hoe :rofl or wait to see how it goes for you WD :)
|
Hopefully I can get some good results on the cold. I will keep you posted ..... :)
