Z77 Motherboards
 

I was just looking at some of the current, or soon to be current, offerings from the various mfgs. Seems to me like the PCIE slots are screwed up on most of them, looking like SLI may be the limit due to space limitations... I mean, WTF is with that :Dizzy:

ASUS seems to only have released a Maximus V in GENE configuration, at least so far. BUT the EVGA Z77 FTW is definetly a hot looking board that looks like it will accommodate 4 GFX cards :thumbsup:

Should be interesting when ASUS eventually unveils their top of the line version :thumbsup:

does the ftw only do sli ?

Don't know for sure about the FTW, but the slot spacing looks like it would accomoodate 4 big cards. All the rest so far look to me that 2 are the max cause of the funky slot spacing.

I saw that ASUS board earlier, but it's not a flagship ROG board ... wonder when we'll get to see that?

I looked at the ftw and it just has the sli badge and only say 4way sli so I'm not sure what's up with that .....

I'm not sure when there is going to be a M5E I haven't waited for mb to cone out on release before.... Anyone has someone in asus # :laughing:

But I want one to run 3x 7970 and a lot of them don't have the pci-e bandwidth... Plus i hate waiting :P

i think it should beable to run cf as well, since it's based on the chipset not the maker (i may be wrong on that) at least that's what i remembered from the olden days

Will support quad for dual GPU's cards but can only fit (3) singels

this board is a top contender for a gaming system, No sure how it would do under extreme conditions

yea 2011 is the ideal solution for quad SLI and QuadFire

But TBH I would not set up a gamer with more than (2) cards

wish the ASUS P8Z77 WS was the M5E cuz CF and Tri dont look so bad with the WS x16/x16; x16/x8/x16 i want it but its so damn ugly :P

the WS boards are pretty solid pieces of hardware, I sent my WS P67 back due to BIOS problems and it was pre B3 stepping

They are not Smack approved though for lack of Bling Bling ............ :laughing:


The ROG solution will be along soon enough guys ...... that should put this subject to sleep as I do not see a Giga Sniper solution either :blink:

I have 6 boards as of this moment and I can tell you that the P8Z77 WS will support 4 way SLI

the Deluxe has enough space for 3 way...

one thing to keep in mind is if you are going triple slot well then your F'd ;)

Stay away from WS and Sabertooth BS as well as pretty much anything GB makes except their high end crap. Still crap even though it might be a solid BOARD..

gotta reemmber GB cahrges same as anyone lese does for "deluxe models" differnece is features. Softweare wise GB has 0 features, they say they do, but they dont work havent for years.

Easytune? I have not successfully installed that since ET3.

They are at ET6 now.

Their 3rd party stuff works, USB and such..

ASUS.. great software.. and more features.

MSI.. good hardware, decent softare and feature set lacks.

Pick your poison. Best ANY of them gets is 90% success rate that is exceptional for a motherboard company.

I used et6 on my p45 mb..... But the 2 gig mb I own have been rma for messing up during normal use....

The WS board is not a bad looking board TBH.

it serves its purpose and has some good solid components which should yield some nice clocks :)

as for performance much like SB and SB-e your gonna be looking at a few percent increase in efficiency at most going from board to board, unless of course you have aone with horrible UEFI with no good options.... I have a couple of those as well :(

The ROG boards so far once again seem to be where its happening so far..

Spent some time with the yet to be released MVF and it is needless to say BAD ASS

So Punx Brother.. which is more BAD ASS, the ROG, or the FTW ?

I like their effort but you cant price a board at same price with less features, it just doesnt work.

Simple compare... Look at RIVE next to X79 classy.... look at all the pretty flat OPEN PCB space on the classy...

what some one told me that the mvf would be out but no eta :P and if the need for a mve then they would put it out :S

EVGA lost me when they stuck me with a dead P55 cause of pin burn, NEVA NEVA NEVA again!
