I just finished power washing the side of this house and I was walking around swinging the shuttuers back in place and latching them. There was a hole in a iron grate that covers a cellar window that is below the grade of the land. The shutter bracket is shaped like a sideways reverse S. So when I started falling through the grate I put my hand up to stop myself, got my thumb caught and my weight was just too much I guess. It all happened so fast .

I am. Not for a while now though. Either way. No matter what you do, losing your thumb is not good. I am actually in the construction business. Mainly painting and wallpapering. Brings some truth to the saying, "one arm paperhanger".

Hang in there bud, my partner got the tops blown off his index, thumb and ring fingers a few years back by a shotgun wielding meth head. Fingers never grew back but he still working and making due. He's got a weird handshake and we call him Claw now. (non-gun hand).

Well bad news a the docs guys. It didn't take. So now I have to make a decision by Monday. Cut if off down to the next knuckle. Or, let them use my big toe and attach that to my thumb. They do this often. But it means about a year of down time. I think I'm gonna let them hack it off.
