Riddle me this...
Base Hardware:
ROG SWIFT PG278Q ( 3 monitors ) Asus RAMPAGE V EXTREME/U3.1 Intel® Core™ i7-5960X Processor Extreme Edition (20M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz) G.SKILL F4-2666C 15Q-32GRKB Keyboard/Mouse EVGA 1600w T2 Samsung 850 Evo 1TB (2 Drives) Samsung SM951 PCIE M.2 SSD Geforce GTX Titan X (4 pieces) Riddle #1 (option 1) Based on the 40 pcie lane availability on this cpu/mobo, option 1 is to run 3-way SLI and enable the ultra fast M.2 drive with raid 0 samsungs for storage. Riddle #2 (option 2) Based on the 40 pcie lane availability on the cpu/mobo, option 2 is to run Four way SLI, dump the ultra fast M.2 drive and be happy with a Raid 0 ssd array. Note #1: 4-way sli on a 3 monitor surround does yield performance significant enough to consider with (depending on the driver version) a tiny bit of random issues. Note #2: GPU/CPU will be covered in blocks which means 3 way GPU overclocking on water could bridge the 4-way performance gap. Wuttayasay gents? Option 1 or 2? Comments. |
Option 1 seems like the easier way but still awesome!!

2.
4 card fun > hard drive fun. Also, freeze em all. |

Passive cooling raddage, nice ;)
Which pumps are those? Are you using a separate psu for the water cooling? |

Does that temp probe cut in and out? I have 2 and they both do that. I'm pretty sure they are made by phobya.
|
Has worked flawlessly since 2009. Only goes down to -42c i think. U check the pins in the molex?

Looks like the 3-way poll won out.
Time to setup the Asus Rampage V Extreme X99 3.1 Mother of all boards (well most). Attachment 7576 No 2011 mounting hardware so I'll have to use precision mounting with the Heatkiller 3.0 waterblock. Who the hell uses springs nowadays anyways? Attachment 7577 I'm not sure on the longevity of liquid metal TIM but I'm sure of its ability to move heat quickly. Attachment 7578 EDIT: I can say that when I opened a really old used pack of Liquid Metal, the applicator brush that I used still has some on it and it behaved/moved just as it did when I first applied it, no drying out or anything. Good indicator that it lasts quite a while. |
Awesomesauce!!! :ola:

Gonna try out Raid 0 Samsung Evo' 1tb's next n see what "FEELS" snapyier. Pretty sure I can run a onboard raid with 4 way SLI but not 100% certain on the PCIe lane dealios. I'll leave the m.2 installed with its os, install the fourth Titan w/b and the raid. When playing with m.2 I'll disable the 4 pcie card which will allow the m.2 to be recognized and just run 3-way with loop in tact. 4th gpu block can act as a rad, lololol. Attachment 7602 |
You have inspired me to light up my rig. My rig is missing something and some soft lighting could do the trick.
Killah setup brodah! |
note: gpu core temps almost never exceed 40c @ +200 core +300 mems
BUT!!! the backplates gets hellishly scald the finger hot. GPU's run fine like that but i'm gonna spot fan it anyways. Kinda think the damn backplate needs a waterblock. Good grief cant imagine the heat that was being thrown off when i was just running the air coolers mashed together in 4-way. Will never do that again lol |

I removed the EK tri-sli watercooling bridge from the waterblocks and installed the EK GTX Titan X Waterblock with Backplate on the fourth Geforce GTX Titan X.
I then installed two clear EK bridges on the two pair and slapped some Koolance Quick Disconnects all around. It will make removed and installing the cards a bit easier. Switching from SLI, TRI-SLI, 4-way is easy via the mother pci-e lane jumpers and switchin out SLI bridges. This is no Marc MOLELLA case mod but it works for me. Attachment 7670 |
Sick set up Kal,
Throw a rad in a bucket of ice water and lets see what it can do :) http://hwbot.org/submission/2879631_..._x_33229_marks |
