New Truck

What up gents ?

looking for a new truck. My youngest starts college in a few weeks and I would like to hook him up with my old truck to beat around in and to get back and forth to work in.

That being said I am in the market for a new truck, so the search begins. I am typically a Mopar guy and like the RAM line of pickups

here is one i am looking at currently

http://www.kellerbrosdodge.net/new/R...f585278a99.htm

Is there any reason I should be looking at GMC or Ford ?

Any feed back is appreciated as i will probably be driving this until i die ....

Thanks

Kal-EL 08-07-2015 07:10 AM

Nope, i'd be all over that one witchy, fine ass truck thar. I am a little partial to duallies because of my 98 Chevy Dually, but the Dodge trucks look mean and have power to boot.

Those 4-doors are awesome too. imo.

Witchdoctor 08-07-2015 08:55 AM

Thanks Kal,

taking it out on a test drive tonight after work :)

OC Maximus 08-07-2015 10:18 PM

Test drove a 2004 Ram short cab and fell in love... back in 2004. Haven't been in the newer Dodge Rams. Too bad they got rid of the SRT 10 line. I'd be driving one today if they wouldn't have gotten rid of it.

Witchdoctor 08-08-2015 12:58 AM

Wow, just wow

It is like driving in a space ship
Hard to believe you are in a truck ,
Seem pretty stout , but 38 K :ohcrap:

going to sleep on this for a few days

Kal-EL 08-17-2015 01:05 AM

Well? You impulse buy or wut?

Witchdoctor 08-17-2015 02:33 AM

Ended up buying a different truck, same kind, just less options and less expensive.

Really like it, great ride and still has a lot of things my old truck did not have

Kal-EL 08-17-2015 12:35 PM

Kool, even the base model hemi is right on. Less bells to fix later.

Witchdoctor 08-18-2015 01:20 AM

yea it is pretty snappy 5.7 liter , could not swing the 6.4 liter

Digging the ride though compared to my old truck this thing is a Cadillac

OC Maximus 08-18-2015 01:44 PM

I've owned a 5.7L in one form or another since 2004. Can't get enough of em.

Neuromancer 10-05-2015 05:31 AM

I have owned a couple of Rams, I like them fine. Currently tooling around in a '05 F350 diesel 4x4 crew cab. (6.5' bed) 5.7L powerstroke turbo diesel.

Dual axial suspension means city driving is ROUGH. Need new shocks already, the smallest bump sends my springs up into the bed lol. But... Load a couple tons in it and it purrs. No reduction in performance (thanks diesel) and the suspension gets to ride fully on the springs smoothing it out a bit :)

Getting ~15MPG at 2.00 a gallon right now, blend of city and highway. Too many short distance jaunts for the diesel to really optimize though.

Witchdoctor 04-04-2016 01:45 AM

Does anyone know anything about lift kits ?

Have been looking at the Rough Country 6" lift

http://www.roughcountry.com/dodge-su...-kit-324c.html

Reading 37" tires would fit with out ribbing ?

https://www.toyotires.com/tire/patte...traction-tires

OC Maximus 04-05-2016 08:14 PM

I hear rough country rides, well, a bit rough. Not the best quality shocks in the kit but you can always upgrade them. I have OME (old man emu) on my jeep and they are awesome. 5" lift.

Witchdoctor 04-06-2016 01:08 AM

Thanks man, went ahead and bought the kit.

Appreciate the heads upon the shocks :)

I will post some pics once it is installed, only have 33's now, but hoping to get 37's once I can afford them

Kal-EL 04-06-2016 03:14 PM

Right on.

DOM 04-10-2016 05:50 PM

Should of got a 2500 4x4 diesel lol

I miss my 2010 ram crew sport package though :P

Witchdoctor 04-12-2016 11:26 PM

Not a diesel guy

you guys know anything about exhaust systems ?

Looking at a Flowmaster Outlaw , the stock singe pipe on my truck is very conservative.

looking for a low pitched tone , not ridiculous but powerful sounding

Kal-EL 04-13-2016 01:49 AM

I dunno witchy, i went to my exhaust guy and he asked what i was lookin for and I toldem "the most absurdly badass loud muffler you got". He rambled somethin flomaster 44 or sumtin and I never looked back :) .

DOM 04-13-2016 02:57 AM

I had a Flowmaster but don't remember which one it wasn't to loud but I has the dual tip rear bumper

Which you can probably still run dual which would look nicer lol

I've never had a diesel but I think if you want a truck that's the way to go but you already got it so don't lesson to me lol

I think they make a 44

Can you hold a conversation while driving ?

So hard to tell on Unoob :Dizzy:

Kal-EL 04-13-2016 04:47 PM

yah, u can definitely hold a convo withem. Initially they are super loud but after some build up, its good to go.

Witchdoctor 04-13-2016 10:06 PM

Thanks bro,

looking at the 40, 44 & 50 series

just need to run around and get some pricing from some local welders
No tall of them do stainless , guessing i will need some additional pipe custom bending going from single to dual exhaust

Last time I built my exhaust I used a bunch of tubing from Jegs. The stainless stuff was awesome. None of the local muffler shops in Virginia Beach carried the good stuff, all they had was crappy aluminized tubing with a bunch of crimps in it. Mandrel Bent Stainless is the way to go bro ;)

Witchdoctor 04-18-2016 12:29 PM

Thanks man,

Kal-EL 04-22-2016 02:12 PM

Any improvement in throttle response?

Witchdoctor 04-22-2016 02:21 PM

I have to say yes to that, but only a little bit, not night and day

Could be a placibo affect

also seems to drive on the highway with less RPM's

Kal-EL 04-22-2016 05:10 PM

Any wide open throttles yet? PCM may need a few to properly calibrate.

Witchdoctor 06-01-2016 12:43 PM

What up gents ?

I hope everyone is enjoying their spring. for you Hawaiians this probably has little meaning, but if you live in the NE you know where i am at.

Still need to find me a job in Oahu

has been a while, remodeling my master bath and bedroom and working on this truck has been monopolizing all my time here of late.

Just order a new PCM and a hand held controller so I can overclock my truck .......

Kal-EL 06-01-2016 02:51 PM

Awe sweet man, don't go too bonkers tho, could get messy.

Hey, I'll put u up in the spare bedroom while you remodel my bath and build me another extension :). On the weekends you can spend the money from labor to go surfing, snorkling, skydiving or hiking. hehe

Witchdoctor 06-01-2016 02:59 PM

If I was single I would take you up on that

Not to crazy, ju8st need some extra horses to push some 37" tires :)

Kal-EL 06-01-2016 03:39 PM

I'm running the canned 93 tune from diablo with the trinity atm. So far happy and haven't had any issues.
