Introduce yourself

Every forum has to have a how do you do.

Granted this forum is starting out with a lot of names I personally recognize, but not everyone may know. Please take the time to introduce yourself, list your accomplishments (personal, professional or record breaking ;) )

List your nom de guerre, you common name if you like. Something about yourself, and what you like to do (overclocking is obvious :p)

A sample maybe (all entries are entirely voluntary)

I will start

Neuromancer (I go by it or a l33t speak derivative of it most everywhere... sometimes neuro42... to combine 2 of my favorite books)

I have posted most everywhere from pronet to XS and most recently OCF, TR.net and her

Real name is Rich

Currently laid off :( Was a land surveyor. Among my myriad of jobs. I like variety just like my HW

Hobbies include, a junkies addiction to price/performance HW, latest and greatest SW, and running bench tests without hindering my rig in anyway (I bench production rigs... if I will not disable audio or LAN or anything to get more points. If I can not run it desktop, I will not bench it. well I will clarify "bench settings" which means not 24/7.. I have disabled Aero before to get an extra 50? points...) I am just not that addicted yet I guess

Benchmarks, I cant compare to the pros here. Best is 13.2K in vantage all air cooling and it happen recently despite the heat (I air cool)

Currently running AMD in my house ecept for 2 Pee4s)
AMD 550BE
920 quad
3600x2
4850e
duron750
2x 2.4 pee4s
and considering splitting my 4850s :o

Software, I love Vista... sorry its taboo, I do not like Mojave (IE windows 7) too buggy for me. I do not limit yself though I can run anything. From BASIC (when it was) to DOS, Windows, Sun, Linux/Unix and BSD. Even SPARC OSes are not out of my Ken.

About me:

Big tendency of mine.. call BS when I see it ;)

EDIT: I like lite beers and good single malt scotch

Nik is Buckeye and that is what I use on every fourm, if I can.

Some forums that name has been taken, strange eh, so I make up some form of Buckeye... like EVGA it's BuckeyeSSD, BPC it's *Buckeye

Other forums I visit are XS, 411,TRF, Blazing PC which I pretty much just visit, but liking it here more and more.

Real name: Bill

Profession:
Working 10 years at Lawence Livermore Lab in Livermore CA I thought I was a Mechanical Engineer in Weapons Test Division but later moved to Military Applications with the Directors of the Lab doing presentations for the Big Guys. Then moved into the Tech Art Department.

Later in life I became a Graphic Artist if the Flexo Printing Industry doing food & automotive labels. I do have my Herbalife business still going which I did pretty darn well at for a few years, in fact it funded just about all of my hardware. Now I am not sure what I am LOL.

Hobbies:
Well I am here and this is my major hobby :) however I do like to game also. I have played just about all online games from SWG, Anarchy, DAoC, WoW etc. DAoC was great fun for awhile and had a pretty good guild at the time. Pre-NGE SWG I really liked.

Jumpgate was my first online game. Played WoW for far to long, I do think it is one of the best online RPG's out there. But now I have gotten back to the old board games that have made there way to the computer, some I played when very young before computers. I am really likeing this one right now, Commander - Europe at War

Benchmarks:
As I am GPU poor atm I pretty much only do CPU benches. Keeping with with all aspec's of hardware at the same time is just to darn costly for me anymore.

Current HW:
Main rig is EVGA X58 MB with 12gigs RAM, Core I7 920, 8x MTRON PRO SSD's on a ARC-1231ML in Raid 0. 6x HD's for a total of about 4TB's of storage. 2x 9800gx2's for Quad SLI and other stuff :) I need to get the Jinu Cooling tower connected back up to the main rig also, I was using it for benching but the MonstaCade has taken it's place so it's back to the main rig and 24/7 use.

Prefered SW:
I am running Windows 7 atm and made the complete switch over. Ultimate Office Suite, Expression Studio, Adobe products and a whole lot of other stuff :)

About:
I have been spending a lot of time the last few days trying to get my bench area all cleaned up, combined the office and bench area into one room which is getting a bit out of hand LOL.

My favorvite place is Bodaga Bay above SF which I get over to every chance I can. I love the small laid back fishing village type settings. I can picture my benching room with a window over looking the bay and ocean.

I have pretty much full setups for all types of extreme cooling, from SS Phase's, LN2 pots and Dewar and the new addition of the MonstaCade which I cannot begin to tell you how sweet it is to be able to run at -110c and not pour any LN2. LN2 will now be pretty much used for GPU's unless a chip warrents going colder than the MonstaCade can do. I do not have that many GPU's and nothing really new so LN2 will not be used all that much anymore. I do have a full Dewar atm and my Taylor Wharton 50L holds it for a very longt time.

Naturally I aspire to be a top bencher and going down that long hard road to be noticed and get ranked up there on top. I have been in only one major event and that was the Gigabyte GOOC 09 in LA where I think this old fart did pretty well for a first timer in the mix with some of the best over clockers in the US. I didn't want to show up all these young pups there to bad LOL :)

Generally speaking tho I am a pretty laid back type and just enjoy pushing hardware for fun, and where ever that leads me to is ok with me :)

There are many good friends I have made over time in this sport, and hopefully many more to make !

As you can see by the pic I still have more work to do on the benching room, but it's a start :)

And I still need to pick your brain on this finicky board. This 975 doesn't play nice on ear. I need to get the dewar filled but it will be a few weeks. I did manage to get a 205 bclk but it was definately not even close to stable. Forgot to save the dump file also.

Just getting started...lot to learn...just got my first rig which i messed up at in record time. Not sure what happened...trying to figure it out. Gotta b a girl to mess it up so fast LOL.....Was interested in coumpters back in the day...got out of it now i am back...

worked mostly in retail...um hobbies...this, reading, movies

Neuromancer 06-20-2009 08:52 PM

Oh yah movies I love me watching some vids.

One of the main reasons I have to have dual monitors on my rig, and probabl why I suck at games. I always have a something running on my second monitor while I game. :)

Like the nik, had such a thing for her when I was a kid, (about the time Marc Silvestri was drawing the Xmen comic books lol)

Sup gents and our sister member,

Name: Kalae [kah-lie]

Origin: Krypton, Hawaii - www.x-cade.com - www.evga.com - www.411overkill.com - www.overclockaholics.com

Occupation: Protector of humans

Hobbys: Hosting an Overclocking Community -----> Overclocking Computer Components --> Being a good father

Tech History: In the year of our father 2004, I was at work digging thru some old filing cabinets and found a box containing Unreal Tournament 99. I loaded it up on the "then unsecured" work computer. It was pretty kick-arse and I endeavored to spend as much time in the office as possible :D At the time I had no hardware knowledge and miniscule software knowledge but this was enough to spark my interests.

2005, scraped some money together for a gaming laptop from the Dell Refurb Department and picked up a 04 Dell Inspiron XPS 8100. I then picked up Age of Empires. Later picked up AOE II, then Age of Mythology, and spent alot of time competing online.

2006, I ran across UT2004, picked it up, installed and went bonkers with UT2004. 06 I saved a bunch of scratch and picked up my first tower, a fully loaded cutting edge Falcon Northwest Mach IV, system specs:
Evga 680i
QX6700
4gb 1142mhz Corsair 5-5-5-15-2T
2 150gb Raptors
2 750gb Seagates
X-Fi Plantium Extreme Gamer
PlexorDvd etc.
Plexor B-ray r/rw
2 8800 GTX's
30" Apple Monitor

I owned on UT2004 and met up with a now close friend, Marek, we got to putting together a clan and a website: www.x-cade.com . Marek learned me the ways of the web. Clan competitions got stiff, I wanted more performance and I had a rig to learn about. Thus began my affair with overclocking. Spent some time at EVGA and met up with Steve a.k.a. Spfoam1, an awnry bastard with a passion for competition.

Roll in 2008, its time to find out what I'm made of and build my first bad-arse rig including water cooling. Born was the Superman Build:
http://www.x-cade.com/uploads/Supes/...%20(Large).jpg

Spent some time at 411 and things started out great but eventually some drama took hold and things went sour. So a few of us started out on a new forum, unfortunately the dude we paired up with was born on total drama island and bad holes in his teeth from lying so much. That failed so battered and bruised the loyal few that remained began a new here at our final resting place www.overclockaholics.com where we shall remain till apocolypse-net occurs.

In rolls the future of Overclockaholics...................... Bringing Overclockers together one thread at a time :D

About - I have been into computers since 1997 and really didn't start to get into them until 2002. But unfortuantaly growing up in a cop family, I rebelled like a preacher kid and had a brush in with the law that sent me up state for four years. During that time I read about computers, enough to keep me in the loop. Got out, landed on my feet and hit the computer scene like I never missed a beat. I am involed in helping others with a drug addiction problem now. I have a few certifications; A+, Network+, CIW. My plans are to start a small PC business one day. Pretty much building and reparing of PC's.

Me:
I am a 46yr old father of 5 living in Tucson, AZ. I am happily married to my second wife, going on 10 years. She travels internationally quite a bit, thus "when the wifes away, all bot, no play".
My kids are mostly great, lol, the two oldest boys (25) are identical twins and are adopted. They are both handicapped, but Alex (the one remaining) is doing very well. I recently built him a very nice rig which some of you have heard about from time to time.
My next three are from my first marriage, two boys (17, 15) and my baby girl (12). Ironically she takes the most interest in the "family business". They are with me at least half of every week, so I get to be a dad fairly often. My 17yr old son is totally being a pain atm, due to his mom's inability to discipline him....sorry tmi.

Business has been great for the last decade or so leading up to the crash the last couple of years....I do what I can to stay busy and try to remain optimistic for the future.

Computer background:
I began building gaming rigs and overclocking them 3 years ago. I purchased a Dell xps 700 and was not at all impressed with it's performance. I proceeded to upgrade everything (cpu e6300 to a qx6700 and ultimately a qx6850, ram from dell 667 to mushkin 1066 4gb, psu dell 750 to dell 1kw, gpu dell 7950gx2 to evga 8800gt akimbo sli, hdd dell/wd 320gb to dual 160gb wd raptors in raid 0, and stock cpu cooler to the h2c liquid cooler). I managed to overclock the quad to 3.85GHz stable and achieve a 3dmark06 score of almost 21k, at the time one of the top two dells in the world. I still was not impressed as Crysis still was not playable at 19x12. A month later I sold the rig on ebay for over three grand.

It was time to build the Warbird. She started with the same case, psu and opd's that she sport currently. The 790i was her first mobo along with the 98gtx's which were the best at the time. Then came the step up to gtx 280's, then tri, then craploads of wc'n, and eventually i7. I have got to tell you that most of it has been EVGA and they have been very good to me over the years.

My PC Expectations and Accomplishments:
My proudest pc moments are the ones I share with my brothers over at NBOC, in both our forum as well as our team. I am the official HWBot Coach for our team, and welcome and assist our newest teammembers as much as possible. They are always good oc'ers, we just strive to make them better. It has been an amazing ride thus-far, and seems to be just beginning.
I can't help but feel that OCA is alot like home, as this place has the same caliber people, great organization, and a familiar sense of humor. I look foward to alot of laughs and comeradery here, as well as NBOC, in the future.

A few shots of the Warbird, past and present

This thread is shaping up to be a mash up of some very cool ocer's and people. We've definitely got personality here and I know that not everyone has intro'd themselves yet. I hope we stick things out here for a very long time.

If we never get another like-minded soul here again, I'll be content with the bunch of cretans we have so far.

@Rom, my brother has a case of that Romulan Ale and some other Trek stuff, he's fully devoted to it. :D Thx to our new NBOC brothers for signing the Inter-Forum-Overclocker -Alliance- Treaty and hangin with us Overclockaholics from time to time. :D

Nice to meet all of you. I'll formally intro myself tonight. I hope most of you like this place. I love our little hole in the wall kal-EL made for us.

Hi All,

My name is Madhusudan Banik, from India where sub-zero overclocking hasnt caught up yet, hardware parts are sometimes double of what you get in US but still a few enthusiast like me do keep the spirit of benching alive.....On most of the forums I am just a leecher, :p, apart from Erodov.com (where I am a mod) and hopefully on this one too. This looks to be a cool place to hang out, hopefully the journey would be long lasting.....

Afterburner 06-29-2009 06:57 PM

Whatup..... I be Afterburner..... I like long nights of BIOS slapping. The smell of morning dew on my undershorts (Or is that sweat?) The feeling of a magical run that I could never duplicate in a hundred years. And the warm scoldings from a loving wife that thinks I am two builds away from the loony bin!

I am looking for a few good people to teach me the errors of my ways and to take me to the promise lands of 6GHz on air.... 24/7 Biatches! With no more than 1.3Vs of power....

Or at least 5Ghz 24/7 on water with whatever dang v's it needs!!! MUHAhahahahaha:green7::wtf::cheers:sign10

i'll confirm this Canuck is a rookie...good to see another northern dweller and familiar face here :D

my name is Jody, and i am an overclockaholic. i have gone 24 minutes without actively overclocking something. it usually doesn't go longer than that. i generally have 2-3 bench systems running at a time for most of the day and the main focus of my obsession is SPi 32M. with that comes a dedicated obsession with memory.

i am not here to get help with my problem, i am here to encourage it. perhaps these meetings don't have the same purpose in mind like the others i attend

:Hi:Welcome to the forum guys, we'll try to make it as comfortable as possible and reduce the withdrawal symptoms associated with extended hardware downtime, motherboard drying cycles, slow usps service, or forced sessions time-outs by the other half . :morpheus:
