EVGA readies its Top Secret Overclocking platform

6/25/2009 by: Theo Valich - Get more from this author

EVGA did all the best they could with X58 Classified series, but that EPoX engineering team in synergy with Peter "Shamino" Tan and Vince K|ngp|n Lucido isn't stopping anytime soon.
Last night, we received a link with blurred Twitter image link containing a picture of EVGA's Classified motherboard with presumably two GTX295 Co-Op Edition boards with LN2 pots on them. But this is just our assumption; it could be something entirely different.

EVGA's "Top Secret" Twitter Picture...

BTW, if you look left of the American flag, you'll see ASUS stickers, something that will make heart warm to all those ASUS engineers in Taiwan and Fremont, but you know - guys, it’s the EVGA motherboard that is on the top. This is just because it is Vince's bench and he loves to put stickers on it as there is no shortage of other manufacturers as well.
What are Vince K|ngp|n Lucido and EVGA are cooking...? we'll just have to wait until it trickles out. Could it be an LN2 pot for the graphics cards? We'll see.

Ooooh I know I know!! Too bad somebody at BSN didn't do their homework. That is 3/4 x 4890 hardwired to a classified mobo Shamino style :D Now there is another reason why I wanna kidnap him and keep him in my pocket.

I think I would prefer one of the EVGA girls for that but to each his own.

Rumour has it he's got a prototype for a new design thats being tested too

DrNip 06-26-2009 04:46 AM

This wouldn't happen to be what Vince commented on in the thread over at Xtreme. The thread for the get together at his place this weekend.

Was actually talkin bout a new F1EE design but I think its about time for some new fangled revision of X58 with the newer i1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9's (or whatever i-numeral they come up with)

Buckeye 06-26-2009 05:30 AM

Boards like the Classified and what ever now thing is being worked are supper sweet, very costly tho and cost a ton more to outfit them with GPU's and other what nots. It's a very costly game we play these days :(

Geez ^^^this^^^is the gospel truth. This is why most of my bros own a parts store compared to the pointy eared bastard....I just have the components on my back:sick:

Vivi 06-28-2009 11:43 AM

its 4x 285's

Gunslinger 06-28-2009 12:16 PM

Sounds about right, wonder how they scale compared to 4x 4890's

Vivi 06-28-2009 12:36 PM

well, look at it this way,

4x 4890's are so good because they run at 1000 core each on air. if you ran 285's at 1000 each on air it woudl have destroyed the 4890, so they will beat the 4890 yes, in vantage. dont know about other benchmarks.

The 285 will be strong at same clocks as 4890;s

karmakazi 06-28-2009 02:53 PM

I was wondering how long it would take someone to do it. After I saw 4x 4890's on jody's board at my bench party, it was logical progression. Thats going to MURDER vantage and 03, I cant wait.

dinos22 06-28-2009 07:12 PM

oh how conventient to have a name like that BSN >> BSNews

i really hope evga will release this retail cause it'll be hard to compete against vince and Peter in F1OC if we dont have access to it heheheh

3oh6 06-28-2009 07:52 PM

So we shouldnt expect any improvements from the dual nf200 chips then?

not sure what you mean or why you would draw that conclusion from my answer.

You said the classy runs 4x4890 fine, no need for that asus stuff. I thought that Asus board had 2 nf200 chips vs the Classy without. So I deduced that the difference between the boards being the nf200 chips was the mitigating factor in your statement "we don't need that Asus stuff".

Its apparent by your last response that I was wrong and it has more to do with the simple fact that the Classified runs the 4x4890's fine.

Gotta remember, Supes is a noob4life :D forgive the noob :confused1: who's still sportin s775 :confused2:

haha, no worries. i have also been up for all but 3 days straight so i thought i might have just been missing something.

but yeah, my statement was simply based on the fact that 4x4890's run fine on the Classified, i no idea about the P6T7 WS. but since you mention it, that is a good question.

one school of thought is that 1 NF200 chip hinders performance slightly from what people have tested, so two would further hinder performance.

the other school of thought would be that somehow having two working in unison might help the 4x4890 setup due to so much data being pushed from 4 cards.

my guess is there will be no benefit going from a single NF200 (Classified) to a dual NF200 (P6T7 WS) as i believe they both just end up pushing the data to the IOH through the same BUS. obviously empirical testing is the only way to find out though...who's got a P6T7 WS they want to lend me for a weekend of testing :D
