A quick PC Mark05 run with i7 950

A quick PCMark05 run = 18869 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?pcm05=2010694

I didn't bother with a screenshot, as I will get far better than this with my i7 975. My i7 950 is a dud, and has a hard time over about 4800 MHz.

ReverendMaynard 07-04-2009 04:51 AM

foam, you're not using turbo mode with that 950 are you?

Buckeye 07-04-2009 04:55 AM

Dang another RE user, I need to get one of those.

rickss69 07-04-2009 05:04 AM

Worth a silver cup and I have junk for hard drive...

Nope...turbo is off.

DrNip 07-04-2009 06:08 AM

Asus Rampage II Extreme

Chuchnit 07-04-2009 06:21 AM

Steve did you buy some ssd's? Nice run.

DrNip 07-04-2009 06:26 AM

I hate to say this but you might start looking into a different mobo. What is the BCLK at 4800 with a 950?

Kal-EL 07-04-2009 06:43 AM

THats a hefty score Stevo, nice job, wheres the specs?

I can't remember. I'll see if I have that info for you when I get back to my motel room in a few days. Everything I have done with the i7 950 was done in a big hurry. I have no time these days.

And what mobo should I be looking into?

I have purchased my last Rampage II Extreme. It sets vDIMM to dangerous levels (1.9v) by default....shame on Asus. What the hell are they thinking when they set default voltage over 1.65 on a socket 1366 mobo????????????

It was just a quick run....I never even took a screenshot. The i7 950 chip I have is a dud so I already took it off the board. I figured I was wasting my time with a chip that couldn't do at least 5 GHz. I'll put it on the (3rd) P6T board I just got back from newegg and make an email rig out of it. i7 975 will go on the Rampage board now, and I'll be sure to take screenshots LOL.

Kal-EL 07-04-2009 06:57 AM

How many ssd's u run on this one and whats teh gpu config? Raid0 likely eh? Raid card?

spfoam1 07-04-2009 07:03 AM

That's a single SSD

More of 'em coming via UPS .....

Kal-EL 07-04-2009 07:10 AM

Wow, so just one ssd + i7 bumps pcmark that much eh?

Nice score compared to my 15k with 6 raptors on s775 on an areca raid

DrNip 07-04-2009 07:11 AM

Well the Classified and DFI LP UT X58-T3EH8 are the best two mobos out. I have both and am not using the DFI if you would like to take it for a test drive. If you decide you do I would like to know what BCLK you are hittin 1st at 4800MHz so I can determine if it would be worth your while borrowing. The highest I hit on it was 237 BCLK and was benching 220-230 BCLK. But it would prolly be worth your while to get the Classy as it gots whats you need.

Kal-EL 07-04-2009 07:12 AM

Love the "Mr. RMA" usertitle nip :rofl

DrNip 07-04-2009 07:20 AM

Right!? I have RMAed so much shhht lately it was fitting. On this 1366 platform alone I have RMAed 2 - mobos and 3 - sets of RAM. Prolly more to come.

I think 218 is about as high as i have run the BCLK on the Rampage II. If I remember correctly it wasn't very stable. Everything I did with the i7 950 was done in a hurry and I never really refined the settings. Late next week I will be up and running again and I'll get some better info.

I have heard the Classified overclocks very well, but has latency problems that kill it in benchmarks. Any truth to that?

spfoam1 07-04-2009 07:29 AM

And by the way....I am the RMA master.

Don't make me list it all...it's embarrasing.

I dunno, wanna find out for yourself? PM ur addy, I'll ship an nf200 version to yah.

DrNip 07-04-2009 07:34 AM

Dunno as I am suffering form the RAM blues and 2 separate RMA's at the moment. The Classy is the way to go if you want extreme clocking. The DFI is the way to go if you want below extreme clocking but above the rest of the competition.

Thanks.
I want a board that does both.

DrNip 07-04-2009 07:51 AM

Well I would recommend the Classy then the DFI.

I almost bought one of the EVGA Classified.....I'll have to think about it again now.

DrNip 07-04-2009 08:11 AM

Very nice mobo in its own respect. You won't be let down.
