Watercooling setup info
Ok so this is what I am thinking of.
Let me know if all these parts look in line for a good i7 system. First off I already have one of these: Radiator Second this is my list of stuff to get: http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...tercooling.jpg Let me know your thoughts on this setup. Thanks, Marc |
Of course if anyone has any parts they are selling I would consider that as well, but it has to wait a little while, probably until mid October or so. :good:

I would go with a better pump than that. One that allows for fittings. Something like a laing. I have had both and you want to or at least I wanted to stay away from plastic fittings. Speaking of fittings I am really grooving these.
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/big14mabl1id.html I would also go with some better clamps or at least better looking. Something like this: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=25625 Or this: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=24888 Or the silver versions: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=24002 I also have had the reservoir which you'll love. Heatsink is great as well. The tubing you have listed is great and has an excellent bend radius. What radiator you going to use? Might go with one of those new low fan pressure rads. They sure are nice. Try at least a triple rad as anything less is a waste of time and money. http://www.dangerden.com/store/sr1-fan-optimized/ |

What do you recommend for a pump? Click the word radiator in the first post, I basically got that one very inexpensive, so I was gonna see how it worked with everything else, but would like a pa120.3 or the one you linked is nice too. It will be mounted up top in my case with fans blowing up and out. |
Oh didn't see it. Like I said, you need to get at least a triple rad or just stick with the TRUE. They actually have the rad I was speaking of at sidewinders for a lil cheaper.
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/hwlablicesr12.html Team that up with some late loon fans and you will be good to go. The 120.3 is good but older technology as there are some better rads out there now. Of course the die hard never want to change guys might come boo me for that statement but it is what it is. As far as the pump, I have this one and it was great. http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=4509 You don't have to go that expensive now but you could do this. http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swiftechmcp355.html With this top: http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/xsladdctop.html |
nip, taht actually is a repackaged liang D5 pump.... the one i got from DD actually came in a liang box lol..
so he should be fine with that one |

I am seeing great temps with my TRUE and never focus on a high daily OC, just for benching. I am gonna sell this rad, get some better ram first and see what she can really do, but I think a nice water setup would just top off the case. How often does the fluid need to be changed etc... Could that pump be mounted upside down? My plan is the big empty spot between the board and dvd drive, for the res, with a fill port out the top, the pump upside down, under the dvd drive area, rad up top. Loop - Pump > Rad > CPU > Res > pump |
Yeah but I wasn't big on the plastic built in fittings that are on that pump as I had the exact one from sidewinders awhile back. They are prone to crack after awhile or early if you aren't careful. I am a metal fittings type of guy. If you are going to do a water setup might as well do it right or else just go buy a generic kit.
If you are trying to cool your 920 then you will need more of a rad than the one you have linked. |

I may just start buying parts, slowly, and try to get the setup complete in the next couple months, basically I want the setup laid out so I can remove the block from the CPU and take the board out if necessary without draining. |
That's the way to do it. Buy a lil here, buy a lil there and before long you have it.
