LN2 .... again

Ok, been looking at dewars... new seem to be only slighly more expensive than used, and the used usually have the caveat.. sold as is, no tested :(

so, for about $700 I can get a new dewar with a low evap rate. Says it has a built in pouring device in the neck, but ??? They also sell a doohicky for only $500 that pumps the ln2 out.... hey, maybe I could just syphon it out

Anyway, back to the old question, how long could I bench on 25 liters of ln2 considering I didn't spill any or do anything else stupid? I'm thinking of the CPU and a Tech 5 in the middle of a 2 pcb 295.

Any ideas?

Depending on how good you are with LN2, if you get the setup tuned up proper before benching on LN2 etc., you would get a few hours out of 25L, enough for a good bench session in the afternoon.

I am not the greatest at LN2 and my 50L will last me the weekend with maybe 2 bench sessions, thats why I saw 1 good session.

Now if your going AMD with max LN2 temps them 25L might be cutting it close :)

Thanks Buckeye :) Think it might be cheaper to invest in a monstercade like yours... how many phase you got there? I was thinking of a 3 phase if the company pays bonus's this year.... which is questionable :( lol

I would agree with Bill. if the system is tuned you could get between 4 to 6 hrs benching. My 60L will last for two bench session of around 4 to 6 hrs each. I have what is classified as a pressurized dewar so the evaporation rate is higher.

Cascades have there +'s & -'s

They draw a lot of power and output a lot of heat, plus they makes a fair amount of noise. If your chip cannot handle temps of -100c or lower then the Cascade is out. I have had plenty of chips that do not like the Cascade coldness.

LN2 gives you plenty of options, can handle higher heat loads better buy pouring more LN2 and you can fine tune your temps to any temp you want really.

Each tool has its place. I usually start out with SS Phase, then Cascade and finally LN2 if it looks like the chip will perform.

All that said a Cascade makes running very easy, don't have to pour LN2, can take your time tunning etc.

That's because you guys are LN2 Whores! :taunt:

I went 7 hours with 10L and a gentle pour, with my two 10L container thats alot of time. Now for the truth, that 7 hour first session was a baby step, my second re-fill on the container took out 10L in 2 hours :Dizzy: cuz I went for the gold! (never got it  ) but I'm workin on it!

I hear these stories all the time, I only had 1L left of LN2 and benched for 5 hours and got 6 gold's. Never works out that way for me HAHAHA :)

Didn't know you were a member of the "Go for GOLD, Leave with Mold" club, lol. In due time I reckon I'll have my way with her.

guys if you don't mind. What exactly consists of tuning a PC for Ln2? It has to do with the prepping correct?
