HD5870x2 will be named HD 5900
I have seen 3 articles stating the new dual card hemlock will be the HD5900...
2 versions of this...2x5850 and 2 x 5870.... At first i thought this was hipe but if you google HD5900 there are a lot of convincing articles... http://www.nordichardware.com/news,10051.html |
Yep, still keepin one eye on the egg at all times :)
|
It seems that AMD basicly confirms this with there driver being put out for both HD5900's....
|
the egg likes 12:00 hour. Thats when stuff decides to pop up.
|
Yah I saw the article that pulled the information from the INI file.
People are missing something though. It says evergreen right? Not hemlock... if hemlock is the x2 then a 5900 evergreen would be the next step I would imagine. "ATI Radeon HD 5900 Series" = ati2mtag_Evergreen, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_689C "ATI Radeon HD 5900 Series " = ati2mtag_Evergreen, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_689D Not the first time we have seen driver "leaks" with wrong information though. |
I see where it says evergreen but also see update 2

ok...
Radeon HD 5970 confirmed as Hemlock Excluding hte second part of the update for a reason they do not say that AMD verified it.. For the record... calling the 5900 evergreen is within reason, after all it would be 2 evergreen cores, and while I have not had the opportunity to run an X2 card, I would assume the 4870x2 also shows up as a "4800 series GPU" I dont know seen driver strings before lead to BS. Unless ATi is already planning on putting out a new gen next christmas... 5900 seems like too quick a jump (I do not see any 4900 series gpus...) although would allow forum users to say I have an a 5870x2/x3/x4 meaning crossfire, and aligning with the athlon brandname... |
What you say makes since...I guess everyting still remains to be seen...
|
If it makes since... stop living in the past :)
LOL Sorry I am a man of many typos, and read through most, that is a funny one though :) |
This is the first announcement I have seen about the 5970. As far as a date goes. Still, with TSMC having problems getting out the 40nm for ATI and Nividia I can't help but wonder how they will get them out...
