Vmod gone wrong
 
Well I have been Vmodding a P5b Deluxe for a friend and the solder wouldnt stick at all. i tried with and without flux.... this was just getting stupid..... then all of the sudden one of the damned SMD's popped off..... i walked away for awhile.... Oh and to top it off the screen cracked on my phone today

Yeah I hate soldering also, its getting to hard for me to see that tiny stuff anymore.

problem is there is maybe 1mm between the smd's and im beginning to wonder if it was a bad solder joint in that area to begin with. im gonna see if i can fix it first. What really is bugging me is that the solder wouldnt stick.... i can solder anything pretty much but have never had this much trouble,


and what reallu sicks is the smd that came off is about 1mm x 0.5mm in size.... so not easy to work with.

Yeah, that all tin solder sucks ass.... Whenever I do any addition soldering, I make damn sure to remove any and all solder from the joint and then use good ole 60/40 lead death solder. The shit just works, and sicks to almost anything..... except crap rohs compliant solder.

If the solder isn't sticking to a clean pad, then cut it back a couple inches.... might have found yourself a bad spot on the coil. :thumbsup:
