Well I picked up one of these cheap and since I am at my sisters and I had cable TV installed, I thought I would take down the HTPC for a low power downgrade.

OCing was much easier than I expected.. 2 GHz running right now, while I am still setting up the HTPC.

I am actually rather surprised how well it performs once you bump up the clocks a little. At least as good as my old Duron 750MHz setup :)

Assuming all holds up well I might be able to crank out a few boints tomorrow after I get XP installed ;)

Whenever my new RAM gets here I will bench the old HTPC (3600x2), then set that up as my 24/7 PC and get back to enjoying my AMD 920 at 4+ GHz :) (although as a 24/7 and gamer I enjoy it plenty fine at 900 MHz :) )

Well I already looked at upgrading the heatsink for a minute. I think it should be simple enough to mod a couple of NB pots to the chips on it :)

I have one of the first Intel Atom boards, can't over clock it saddly but it is actually a pretty nice board. I did install a OS on it and messed around with it for a bit and it makes a great little setup.

It could be a really nice WHS or like you use it.

I like them :)

I installed win7 on it, OCed it to 2GHz CPU, which also OCs the GPU a bit, seen it running 450 core 1100 shader. installed GPU acceleration for flash and HD video.

Websurfing on it still sucks, the CPU really is a piece of crap, but the GPU works just fine :) Just set it up in the living room attached to a 720p TV. Instead of underscan, nVidia has a slider based version that adjusts the resolution to fit on hte TV so really it is running at like 1150x690 res LOL.

I am feeling a little better today, so going to try and get some important stuff done before I get around to benching it. (Plus I am thinking... maybe it would be better to wait for a nice cold day when I can sit it on the roof ;) At 2GHz It is worth 3-4 points maybe. Not so much on the 3D cuz everyone with 9400M was running core2 mobile chips. Although can get a free 1.8 HW Team points for 3dMark Vantage )
