Rackmount Case Benchtable Build

I've had this project rolling around in my head for a while now an decided to do it. I was sick of the crowded area of the Danger Den Torture Rack. An the fack its a static electricity monster.

I chose the RPC-450 4U Black Rackmount Server Case for this Mod. The job was real easy. Just map out the Standoff's an then cut a hole for the wires. The hole I made is a tad tight but works. I didn't want to weaken the case cover which I might add is pretty thick. I used multi color Sata cables so I know which HD they got to. Out of luck I got the Classified Control Panel to mount real nice that was a bonus. I had a drawer from a Thermaltake Armor Case an the Foxconn benchtable from the BlackOps mobo. The case was the only thing I had to buy which was $83.XX out the door. Accessibility to the inners isnt as bad as it looks, slide case panel back an rotate either way an it gives great access. Their is lots of possibilitys of what one could add to the case such as another psu or even a running PC inside plenty of room for whatever. Their is many holes on the sides you could attach radiators ect. Hope you like it.

Same here !

Mine gets so full of dust its not funny, black was not a good idea where I live :(

I love those server cases and I thought of one of those for my WHS build. But I had that case I used here so it didnt cost anything.

Good job !

Not me.. I told you guys from the get go :)

Nice job gutterz I was looking at that idea for my 4U case meself.. but decided it was not open enough.

BUT...

A little modding will fix all of that.

Not to hard to turn them HDDs around, and cut out the fronts...the filter in the front grille still works. (at least it is if it is built like mine which is almost identical)

making for easy swapping. That important to me, cuz I swap HDDs like most people change their underwear :)

Also ODDs.. that a bit tougher.. simple enough to just spend the $25 and get a new ODD for perma mounting.. imma bit cheap like that and often share one ODD among many rigs, and only leave attached to a bench rig what I need to have it running...

All that aside.

Your kung fu is very impressive and I wish I had your modding skills. Excellent execution. ideas are meaningless without results, and dude.. you got the results :) WTG :)

Thanks Guys. An Neuromancer you wouldnt havt to cut anything. Just un screw the fan in the front and the HD cage comes out the front an also they can be mounted reversed with no modding.
