:welcome: cowboy :) If you are going to game any then I would pretty much scratch Apple. Really you are going to get more bang for the buck buy building your own. Do you do any encoding? Out of the three task that you named can you put them in order of importance and maybe give us a list of what games you play? You can actually have a killer little setup with your budget. It would blow any consumer Mac away.

AMD = FAIL ........

There is only one clear choice in the market today unfortunatly

cowboy36 07-21-2010 11:33 AM

i will be doing pretty much everything with this pc
music movies and pic's

games
Grand Theft Auto IV
Crysis
Counter Strike Source
Just all Dif kind of games
and also all dif kinds of software

Software
FXhome Photokey 3 Pro
FXhome VisionLab Studio
all Adobe CS5
MS Office

you name it i will be running it

Also Why Does AMD=Fail

I would check over at EVGA ... they were selling X58 boards for $ 99

and MC has $ 180 i920's ... grab a B if you can ... low volts

Your first two games rule out getting a mac for sure. What resolution monitor do you plan on getting and how picky are you with eye candy? Plus if you do a ton of CS5 work that's gonna pretty much put you in the i7 category because the triple channel and amount of ram will help.

I was going to argue with you until you posted up those prices. The new AMD's are formidable for a daily rig and gamer. I think so anyways.

He doesn't know. We need to help him with that ;) I'm thinking i7 920, lower end X58 (micro ATX maybe?), 6GB of some ok 1600mhz ram, and 460 1GB or 470?
