Communication Breakdown
If the first thing you thought of was Led Zepelin, and that would mean you are OLD. :P
Bought a USB wireless to connect to my u-verse hub one story above. It won't do it:Dizzy: Doesn't even give me a chance to put in the key. Any ideas before I run out and buy 100ft of outdoor cable and start drilling through walls ? :Dizzy: |
What's the model of the adapter and the model of teh router/hub?
|
The router is an ATT U-VERSE, and the adapter is a Belkin N+N300
The adapter has a button to push for security, I thought it might be to give me a chance to input the key, but it only blinked for awhile then came back with an error message :Dizzy: I have a commercial copy of XP 32 with SP2 and I think I read somewhere that's okay for running the contest. I can set that up in the basement, but if I need to grab any downloads I'll have to carry the rig upstairs until I have a chance to run the wiring.... dammt  |
I vote for wire and drills. Cause it's just more satisfying that way.

Dont know about the button on the adapter...
Are you using the adapters networking software or did you just install drivers and going to have XP handle the details? For a stripped OS (or winFLP) I found that running the utility was necessary for anything past WEP encryption. Does the utility see the UVERSE wireless SSID? Or it never gets to that point? Make sure and change the default login info and SSID of the uverse router as well if you have not already. IF you do not see the SSID of the router I would assume the problem is with the router. The network key is listed on hte side of the router on a sticker, if you want to changeit... use this link on a hardwired computer http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C_2_1 I have wireless N300 in my house. It sucks.. I am sticking to gigabit ethernet :) |
Deleted, don't pay any attention to this post :D

Maybe I'll just run it through the wall and then tuck it under the aluminum siding till I get to the window my AC is in and run it in through there... yeah, I think that's what I'll do :D Quote:
Even tried making a new connection, which gave me the chance to enter the key but then the adapter didn't see the damned router anymore :P Going to take it back and use the $$ on a long outdoor cable. Drilling and running wire tomorrow - time I could be using benching :ohcrap: |
