E759 Classified questions

Not going to crap up the contest thread anymore... I decided I was going to quit wasting time on that and get back to benching, but just can't seem too lol

Not sure what I am doing wrong but...

Tried setting 10 multi on memory, windows still shows 8 multi BIOS shows 10x and 2130 MHZ reported speed. Spi times no different. No double post or anything, botts just liek normal just not at 8x. (started off setting it at 200x10 and worked up only to find it was not an effective multi)

Tried enabling EIST to unlock the 22X multi for single threaded applications... just made things worse and I still do not get the 22X multi.

Classy has a lot more bios settings than some boards so I assume there is something I am missing...

I have managed to get my volts and everything down to 24/7 safe levels BTW So this contest was great for learning that...

Ok BIOS 44 turn off turbo performance (WTF does it do anyway? Its not related to turbo mode as far as I can tell) to unlock 2:10 mem multi!!!

Just google to see what that BIOS feature does, apparently it is there to cause problems.

Would my bios screens help you any?

You use WLM/MSN?

Post #396 in the contest thread is the best I could muster with the 920.

Hondacity 09-11-2010 08:49 AM

how to enable x22 is only done by setting active cores: 1

i just tried my i920..thats the only thing i did...

default values for:
c1e: enable
c-state: disable

what is your vtt? vdimm?

Neuromancer 09-11-2010 09:26 AM

Any i7 920 should hit 22x actual (not reported) on single threaded benches. that is the turbo feature of the i7 architecture. +1x turbo +2x single threaded

I know for a fact this board is not going to 22x despite what eleet says and cpu tweaker, because the times are no better than setting 237x19 turbo disabled.

I did enable EIST and disabled cstates, it drops to 12x but does not increase to 22x. So far that has also only slowed down Pi

Vdimm I have tried up to 1.74 to get 2140 8-8-8 running no luck. Only need about 168 for 1700 ish at 6-6-6

VTT needs about +.3 I have tried higher with no luck.

EDIT: No luck setting anything but 4 cores in BIOS.. 2 core or 1core = no post even at stock

EDIT EDIT: since each multi number = ~3.5 seconds in auperpi I know that the guys gettsing in the 1.37 range have a properly functioning turbo feature on their boards. I have 2 other boards to try, when I get home tonight. Going to do one more run through on the classified back to winFLP, then I will try it on the ASUS and ASRock boards.

Gotta say though.. I LOVE THIS CLASSIFIED!!! I am at 4.5GHz 24/7 stable... no BSODs nothing... getting it to POST at high QPI or crazy mem timings is a differnet story... not board related though I think.

No longer love this board.

No approved windows BIOS flashing method and none of the USB flashing methods will boot.

Was going to try the CD burning method except I pulled the working CD burner out of my PC to boot windows on the benching rig.

Getting VERY annoyed. Think I might chuck this on the scrap heap and try another board.

*sigh.... It was so easy to over clock too! (just has horrible efficiency, and unusable USB ports apparently)

Kal-EL 09-11-2010 01:26 PM

try another usb port

Neuromancer 09-11-2010 01:29 PM

3 different USB ports.. this just cant boot from USB.
