Fatkid's Down and Dirty Virus Removal

Thx Pat,

Ok here we go...

Before you start please disable System Restore. Instructions can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310405

1st Download and run ComboFix the instructions and download can be found here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix

2nd Download and run SDFix from the Administrator account and in Safe-Mode SDFix Download

3rd Download and run SmitFraudFix from the Administrator account and in Safe-Mode SmitFraudFix Download

4th Download and run MalwareBytes, just use the free version http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes...-10804572.html

5th Install Avast! and schedule a "boot time scan" *Do not restart now as you do not have the most recent updates. Please update before the boot-time scan starts. http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

6th Download Spybot Search and Destroy free version and update and run. Download Spybot here *Note on one of the setup screen it will have 4 check boxes, the bottom 2 will be TeaTimer and another realtime scanner. **DO NOT INSTALL THESE** they are junk and will cause problems. Update and run full scan.

7th Repeat the Avast! in windows

8th Repeat the Malware Bytes and Spybot until you have no infections.

9th Remove all but the programs you select for regular scanning. I like Spybot and Avast! personally. Avast! has saved me many times. You will need to register the Avast! within 60 days by giving your email address. It will then give you 14 months of protection before you have to reregister. No purchase needed.

Hope this helps and PM me with any problems. :good:

Cheers :hello:
Patrick

WHen fixing other people's pc's I find the single disc fix to be best, a little pain teaches them to use their head somewhat and not call you constantly over whether or not it's ok to go to this or that porn site or w/e.

For my own pc it isn't a problem, I don't get viruses as I possess a rare talent known as "click sense".
