Global points?
Hey,
I'm wondering what you guys recommend, as I now wanna see if I can get me some globals points, as i've hit the HW limit, and have gone a bit over, so thought it might be fun :) But am wondering what route I should take to try to get them :/ Any suggestions? Best ways etc Thanks |
wprime32 1core
wprime32 2core easiest wprime32 core sooo expensive wprime32 6core expensive add wprime 1024 :D |
Yah, simplest is 2 core + some cold.

wprime don't care about ram too lol

If you have gobs of cash burning a hole in your pocket, picking up one of the $1700 32nm i7 quads is the easiest way to get global wprime scores. WR's still aren't easy, but you are competing against all the 45 nm quads and can crush them for their global boints.
1156/clarkfield setups and some LN2 will get you global wprime 32, wprime 1024 and pi 1M. 980x is the ticket for Global pi, pifast and pi32. E8600/Rampage Extreme/and GTX 280/285/275 lightning are the ticket for 3D01 globals. A stellar 980x and a great 5870 or GTX 480 are necessary for AM3, 3D06, 3D05 and Vantage. A good GTX 480 is the ticket for 3D03. A great 980x or E8600 is very helpful, but not as crucial as it is for AM3, 05, 06 and Vantage. Significant global points generally require money, subambient cooling, voltmods, dead hardware, and an endless hunt for cherry GPU's and especially CPU's. |

is that mean i can have a really fast cpu but shittyest ram on earth and i am still good? something like that? |
very close .... yep

hells yeah! |
Err, thanks patch, not sure if that was sarcasm or merely brutal truth :P
Yeah honda thats what I thought 1 and 2core wprime May be getting access to LN2 soon, so cold should be ok So it looks like for globals, a rather large upgrade is needed, s1156 seems to be the sensible option? (since I don't have cash burning holes in my pocket, as otherwise I wouldn't need advise for getting globals, as I could just get the best stuff :P) |
Lol, George. You got it, healthy mix of sarcasm and brutal truth it is!
1156 and single core are far and away the most affordable route for racking up globals. If you have LN2 coming you're golden. That's the biggest hurdle in the global game. One nice thing about high end hardware is that stuff sells pretty readily. Especially if you buy GPU's at release, bench em, then sell 2-3 weeks later when they're out of stock everywhere. I've even made a profit a few times doing that with flagship cards. |
