Zotac Designs Overclocker-Friendly GeForce GTX 460 Zotac is ready with a new high-end (read: overclocker-friendly) graphics card based on the GeForce GTX 460 graphics processor. This yet to be named variant uses a completely custom-designed PCB and cooler that are geared for overclocking. The PCB sports a heavy duty VRM, while the gargantuan GPU cooler is both tall and three-slots thick. To begin with, this is a GTX 460 with 1 GB of GDDR5 memory over a 256-bit wide memory interface. It is overclocked out of the box, with room for more overclocking/overvolting. The PCB makes use of an 8+2+2 phase VRM that makes use of high-grade chokes, double FETs, high-grade solid-state capacitors as well as three decoupling device prodalizers. The voltage controller is a uP6218, which supports the I2C interface for software voltage control. Next up is the cooling, which consists of a massive GPU cooler, and heatsinks that cover almost every major component on the PCB, including the VRM controller. The GPU cooler measures 185 × 131 × 63 mm, weighing 465 g. It makes use of a dense aluminum fin array to which heat is conveyed from the GPU block by four copper heat pipes. Air is circulated by a 120 mm fan. The heatsink over other components is made of aluminum, is spans across the memory and VRM. Display outputs on the card include two DVI, a standard size HDMI and a DisplayPort. Pricing and availability of the card are not known. http://i.tpucdn.com/img/10-09-29/188a_thm.jpg http://i.tpucdn.com/img/10-09-29/188b_thm.jpg http://i.tpucdn.com/img/10-09-29/188c_thm.jpg http://i.tpucdn.com/img/10-09-29/188d_thm.jpg Source: Expreview |
That is probably the best looking VRM cooler I have seen, but I still wish they would come out with one that keeps them in the 40-50C range under load.
