Decent board for 970
Buddy of mine up in Canada got a 970, he is running an old GB board and having problems clocking.
What are some good recommendations for 32nm hexacores? I know R3E is popular but he might want some other boards at different price points. Thanks |
Dont know how Giga X58A-OC will clock BCLK.....But seems a rock solid mobo

^^
Thanks hombre :) What Im after is a board that isnt as finicky as my current ud5 rev1 is. I would also like a board that has very good voltage regulation, as this one has soo much sag and droop, and llc has never worked properly with it . I have questioned my oc skills a few times because of this dam board :D Any suggestions would be very much appreciated  |
I think x58a is already like my board, just tweaked and improved?
I would prefer something with a different pci-e layout if possible :) |
x58a is the board developed ground up for overclocking, hicookie was involved in the process.

Yeah I saw that, I think it had a different name tho. Gigabyte has the rev1 boards, then they added an "A" to the Rev2 boards. ie: X58 UD-5 then the newer X58A UD-5 :)

What boards did you have in mind already? price range? pci-e needs?
|
Im not really concerned about the price too much, the only board I have been looking at is the R3E pretty much :) I have been out of the loop for a litle while, and am now just getting back into the hobby, so Im not up on whats good, and whats not. Right now my cpu is aircooled, but when I do get into the cold stuff, I would like a board that can take it.. Im looking for a good daily driver, with nice manners, and good performance, but Id also like to take it to the track now and then and beat on it :)

You might take a look at the black edition of the RE3 when it comes out.
|
See, I did not know the board existed until you mentioned it :)
Edit: Thats a fitting board to kick off the end of an era with s/1366 :) |
