WHY PCI
Why do the new P67 and Z68 motherboards have PCI slots on them? Are PCI cards making a comeback I haven't heard about ??
No big deal, just find it a bit confusing :Dizzy: |
never had a use for one myself

So why are they on these boards, huh, I ask you  |
Because if they did not put them on people would complain there 10 year old NIC cards or audio cards do not work.
There are other devices out there that are much more expensive that use PCI as well, like capture cards. But I agree. Hell the P8P67 Pro has 2 PS/2 ports on it as well. Whats up with that? |

Stay out of this :p
Several high end/professional sound cards come in PCI form, the same for some A/V cards and tuners ( DVB-S2 for example, satellite tv on pc ). On my main HTPC ( movies + gaming + music ) I'm using 2 PCI slots and 3 PCI-Express slots. A new BUS/Slot more suitable for A/V than PCI-Express would be more than welcome, but can't see that happening prior to 2013. |
Hey Dude,
I know, I used to use a $200 PCI sound card until a year or so ago, but hey, they make them in PCIe too  So when you moving to Chicago?? |
Gigabite is the worst ..... they have multiple pci slots on them and if you have xF or SLI you better have a pci sound casrd ior it an't fitting on their mainstream stuff
|
I shall come for 2-3 weeks in late August, then head back to Europe to join some friends on a cruise, and come back for good in late Nov/early Dec.
|
people complain about everything....
one thing to note at extremem overclocks sometimes USB can fault, and that why many benchers still use PS2 keyboard/mouse when possible.... |
