[in need] Taking suggestions
I have been doing alotta thinking...
going between quite overclocking, taking a break from overclocking, fvck school and bench 24/7 but cuz this overclocking thing is like a drug, a bad bad drug i came up with [Stay hardcore in school, only go pick up chicks on Fridays, and find time to overclock kick ass on it after homeworking and schooling] ever since school started my playing money went straight down to hell or south what ever works... i had to buy books and it was $1200 and just not too long ago i got this traffic ticket FML and have to go though traffic school my cards was all pretty much maxed -f- out as i am slowly paying everything off i can almost starting to collecting hardwares again, now here is where i am wanting suggestions.... should i go pick up some D9GMX or D9GMH DDR2 or what ever is the better? I have a set of TXDD1024M1300HC6 but TeamXtreme took one of the heatsink and never fixed the ram ass holes TXDD1024M1300HC6 is D9GMH based but it's only 2x1GB do i need anymore pots or any other cooling hardwares? i feel like i already have enough CPU cooling for LN2 and DICE i have 1 3x120mm rad, 1 single 120mm rad, prettmuch everything i need for CPU but GPU is the one i am really short on someone wanna share the Kingpin prize :D -IF YOU HAVE A EXTRA CHEAP GPU WATERBLOCK OR TWO PLEASE SEND ME A EMAIL OR CALL ME OR TXT ME OR COME OVER TO MY HOUSE WHAT EVER WORKS :Hi: i have a Antec TPQ-850 atm, do i need a bigger power supply for overclocking? i think it may be dead needing to RMA it but should i try get something better? cuz that's the best power supply i have in the house, cuz i have the 850, a Antec 650 for back up and a Corsair 430W to power my gaming rig :P i feel like i kinda know the answers but how big should i get or better yet what/which one should i get? i have always been Antec anything they make/made i most likely have it, had it, have had it i'd really like to get some suggestions from y'all |
What are you asking?
1) do you need a bigger power supply, for what.... 2) if you know the answers why are you asking hte questions? If you are playing with DDR2 than I doubt you need more than a 850W. If it was new in your life time. If you bought it used, than I hope you have a good means of testing it :) Anything you buy used you should have a good means of testing. Otherwise do not save the money (it will be heart ache) |

i am just not sure do i really need it to clock things like sandy with one 580 i use http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp alot unsure how good this is, cuz i have had numbers that's way off and there are times that's pretty good... i buy most my power based new just cuz i know what has been done to it i am just unsure what will i be using DDR2 for when i can use DDR3? |
im using a $30 750W ocz SLI psu and TBH, I think it is more stable than my corsair unit of the same wattage ( Idid not V test it, just used it and OC further)
Putting some religious faith in a brand name is ludicrous. I should have tested it... TBH, anything corsair is a suspect by me. Of course that is faith (or lack of) in a name.. so take you opinion on it... belief does not amke it true... positive or negative. |

but yeah i need to to a little more research on the newer power supplies |
I am a firm believer in buying the best PSU available, whitin reason I guess :P
I have one Corsair 1200AX that seems to do a good job, but I've never benched with it, only run it in my x58 gamer. It's dead ass quiet, but I do have some suspicions on stability (haven't had time to test out). My Corsair 750TX has always been reliable but only has 1 8-pin cpu power connector so I replaced that with a PCP&C 950w (yesterday, so nothing to report as of yet). this on my P55 Classy setup. I'm thinking the 750TX should rock with my REX 775 setup  For my two main bench rigs (the Banchettos) - both have PCP&P Turbo Cool 1200's - Nothing short of awesome IMO :D No plans to replace them :) Currently one holds my M4E setup (which I have to freeze within the next couple of days) and the other has the R3E riding on top of it. Back to your question Kiki  Brands are very important, specs are more important, and making you buying decision on what is CHEAP is the worst possible way to go.... IMO of course :D |
take a break bro, god knows we all need one eventually. Ive taken the whole summer off benching so far :) going to be ready come fall to smash some shit.

you sound a bit uptite .... worry about your school work bro, that will insure you have a large benching budget in the future ........ This is your future, benching is a blast and I personally can't wait to get back to it, but it is a recreational activity ........ Life happens :) |
it's like when i saw a 8.4ghz AMD score in the bot i started wanting to hit that mark again
and i started digging in all the celerons i have and pentiums 4s i have lately i don't have enough time to set up a bench and have a full session but i have been reading a lot and learning from others on the tweaks and all that good stuff (there aren't any intel in history that's recorded can do LHe right?) |
Kiki, what kind of GPU blocks you looking for?
