Windows 10 Discussion
windows10-build10162
Microsoft today released Windows 10 RTM build 10240 to Windows Insiders. This new build includes even better Microsoft Edge browser which beats Chrome and Safari on their own JavaScript benchmarks: On WebKit Sunspider, Edge is 112% faster than Chrome On Google Octane, Edge is 11% faster than Chrome On Apple JetStream, Edge is 37% faster than Chrome As you already know, on PCs and tablets Microsoft has added “Mobile” to the Office app names to help distinguish them from the Office desktop suite. Also they have removed “Preview” from the app names and from next week, you will need an Office 365 subscription to edit on Windows 10 PCs and larger tablets. Another small but important thing, the desktop watermark is no longer there. |
No where to go but up from Win 8
Looks like it will still not be allowed for submissions though |

Still, not sure why they wouldn't allow other benches to be run on Win 10 but truth be told I haven't been spending much time browsing hwbot. Just lost in my own sauce atm. |

Oh that! that thing, yah, no worries witchy, they'll slap an hwbot wrapper around the os and we'll all be zoom zoomin Hwindows10 compliant.
lol? Attachment 7604 |
Word is that windows 10 will push updates for apps, proggies, system updates automatically (no choice there). The only iteration of w10 that won't push is Enterprise and while she's a gallant ship I have a hunch a gifted coder will find the right switch to let other iterations go without forced updates.

Interesting. W8 or W10 may not be allowed by the bot for submissions but who cares (I do understand why). W10 should be better in every aspect afaik. DX12 looks like a big step forward, we will see.... I'm pretty darn excited about this W10 release. (probably cause I'm not out to sea :)) Anywho, I'm sure someone smart will figure it all out and find a way to bench with dx12. Interesting times ahead..... |
A closer look at the Win 10 logo shows how robust the operating system really is...

Seriously tho, what impact will this have on the Overclocking scene?
Overclocking's roots are intertwined with the gaming community. The relationship will no longer exist if benchmarks on win10 are unavailable. Point here is there will still be benchmarks. Just not Hwbot validated benchmarks. Hurray!, I answered my own question. Long live Overclocking :) Onus to hwbot to figure a way out of the shit or be left benching old operating systems that the gaming community and manuf's don't much give a rat's rump about. thoughts??... |
The overclocking community is such a small demographic it really does not matter to M$
Why would they try to fix anything, probably like normal this will simply be a beta for us to complain about for a few months until it is truly ready for release AKA 10.1 :Dizzy: Just got my free windows 10 upgrade notice so I should have it on my 24/7 in a week or so :) |
