Crossfire 4850s driving me batty!

Been doing some intensive benching over the last 24 hours. Decided to stick to single GPU and running my X2 with only 2 cores.

Finished up. Popped in my other 4850, ran Vantage no problems.

Tried running 06. PC restarted on canyon flight.

Started working down my OCs (First on VGA down to OCs that I know are stable)
MAde it to deep freeze and kept freezing there. *sigh

Then I started dropping my HT Link speed. All the way down to 800 MHz.
This is not good, as the testing I did before, with crossfired 4850s OCed, anything below 1200 hurts 3d performance.

Still stuck on the last test.

Finally got frustrated loaded optimal defaults, stuck in true default speeds on my cards (625/993 I RBE'd them to TOP speeds 680/1050 a few weeks ago) so I can use CCC to OC them to 730/1060 (2nd card is weak, first card was benching at 760 core and 1100 mem). Flew right through it.

So been working down (rather than up) to find stability and my head is pounding. :argh: pullhair

Gave up on 06 and ran 2001SE.

Scored 1000 points lower than I did with a single GPU lol

Meh, not really an ask for help thread, more of a bitching and moaning thread.

Since im thinking about selling my 920, I think I am going to rip this rig appart tonight again. (take it out of the case) mount the tuniq on it (super overkill I know) and the puny 92mm Xigmatek cooler on the quad (I mean the "real quad.") Check out the mobo heatsinks for contact again, and grab some baling wire and strap the panaflo to the tuniq tower.

Considering that setup kept my 920 under 50C load at 3700MHz, I imagine that this little dual core is going to stay very close to ambient :) (It is hitting 40C in benches right now on the puny cooler)

Wish I could work on my "tech station" (pics will be uploaded in another thread :) )heh heh but my girls have taken over my room and if I want to bench at night its gotta stay downstairs, and that means in a case.

6 kids in a house is too much.

CCC 9.6 seems to have been the finishing touch for my Asus TOP bios flashed 4870X2's, they lasted about 9-10 months and then died in a just a couple of hours after installing 9.6. My 4870 clocks are reduced a fair bit as well but with the reduced clocks it still has better performance on 9.6 than it did on 9.5.

Hmm well after the rebuild, and getting hte kids ready for bed, I may have to try the 9.6

Might just reinstall V32 and maybe XP on another partition. Just in case I hosed something (stupid me for not making a damn image of the OS...)

Guess I could install the raptor 150 as well.
