Max the strip as far as it will go (128k). For xp make sure you have a floppy or emulated msdos usb stick w/ driver ready. Vista/7 all you need are the files in a usb stick.
Pretty much it. After you get the os installed, cram in drivers as usual and enjoy the speed.
