I have a couple views of this myself.
Its bad business to offer something that loses you money. (obviously) So when times are tough and your competitor is stealing the low cost show you need to make more money for what you are already selling so instead of raising chip prices even higher on the high end they offer this to make a couple more bucks.
Good Guy Splave see this as intel telling people to go ahead and try overclocking! Worst case scenario you get another chip for $30 instead of a $350 paper weight. (Unless you are sinner like me and RMA anyways.)
Realist Splave knows intel doesnt give a shit about overclocking being mainstream its lost them money for years. I foresee this as being then start of the end of a 3 year warranty changing to a 1 year and paying for longer.
