XP not stable for runs whereas Win 7 is

Another problem, ah!!! so many of them,
I was recently benching with my 980X and my clocks were perfectly stable even for 3d tests with no errors on Windows 7 at around 5885Mhz.

But on Windows XP, I was not able to complete even superpi 32m. Any ideas/suggestion guyz??? Both were stripped btw.

One thing I am thinking of is downloading one of the stripped XP uploaded on our servers. Which one should I?

I experience the same thing between xp and windows 7 myself. 7 appears to be easier on the cpu than xp. However, 7 x64 gets tough at the higher clock speeds.
Chuchnits stripped os is pretty clean: /ocalliance/OCA_OS_images/Chuchnit/XP_SP3_2D/

Always best to strip your own and not with nlite. I've used it a few times and there are bugs that not many people know about.
Sysprepping the OS yourself, built on the platform you intend to bench should be status quo around here. Not saying this as a bencher, but as a guy who configures and images OS's for a living.

Superpi 32m is something that retail chips are not very good at. To say that you can 3d bench at 5885mhz in win7 but cant superpi 32m that speed sounds normal to me. A better comparison would be if you can run 3d at the same speeds in each OS. I know XP bootup is harder than win7 but they should be pretty close in overclockability

I thought I am doing something wrong, didnt try any 3d Test on XP, would certainly try it next time. Yeah bootup is harder on XP for sure in my case, I have to down the clock to 5.4G for XP whereas it was booting at 5.6 in win7.

But you guyz surely run pi on XP right? So what is the catch to it? More volts???

Never had stability problems on XP .Though I have noticed that XP causes more load than Win7 . The coldbug is also different from XP to Win7 ....
