Default 4890 Reviewed by Anandtech

Bear this with a grain of salt because the guru3d review is the exact opposite and I personally get better results with my single 4870 in COD WaW than either place.

So what to go with? Really it depends on what resolutions you're targeting and what the prices end up being. If you've got a 30" display then either card will work, it's just up to your preference and the items we talked about earlier. If you've got a 24" or smaller display (1920x1200 or below), then the Radeon HD 4890 is the card for you.

4890's seem to be nice but from what I have read aren't too much better than the 4870's. Price to performance ratio tells me the 4870's are still the better card.

Well it's just an overclocked 4870. I'm gonna try and run mine at 850 core just to see if it will be game stable. If so then I have a free 4890

From what I gather the 4890 has nicely binned gddr5 modules on it which have a higher bandwidth/overclocking capability.

Either way, I'd like to see you're results chuchnit.

Well I game at 800/1000 and haven't tested higher until today. How did it go? Well I can run COD4 & 5 for about ten minutes at 850/975 before my driver stops responding I still didn't see an increase over my 800/1000 clocks when I looked up to check my fps.

Man I swear hardware is like crack to me. I want some ATI's badly. Is it worth the additional $ to get the 4890's? Some how I have to find a way to hold out a little longer. Summer purchases will be SDD and Crossfire!!! Might need to get a paper route or mow some lawns!

Well for our porpuse I say it's worth the money. I need a vmod to hit even stock clocks on the gpu core it seems. With the 4890 it looks like 950/1200 is possible on air. Check out the bot. Sick scores already up.

It's what I'm here for :p Plus you gotta think ATI is gonna want to focus on optimizing the 4890 through drivers and give up on us 4870 owners.

Think I might have to try to hold out until the GTX300 comes out later this year.
