Question stay? or move on?

i am looking at the new coming out i9 6-core s and i have a i7 920 D0

for one, should i stay with my very overclockable i7 or sale it and go with the new i9 if i can

and two, i am also looking for a new mobo, i am gonna be doing lots of EXTREME overclocking and also everyday computing / schooling stuff like that.....
i am on a gigabyte x58-ud4p and i am seling that on ebay
i am looking and bitting on a evga classified board not really sure if it's a e759 or e760 it's not saying on the list.... hoping is a e759
OR
go with the new ud7 that has USB3 and SATA III?

and ps...
i really want to be on ripping.org list for highest FSB and Super Pi
seems to me that i am doing really well on the Super Pi if i do it just right this winter.....

Short and sweet version?
Stay with the 920DO unless you are using 2stage or LN2.
I am using a sweet little single stage and own a golden w3580 (5.1GHz @ 1.45vc)
and gain nothing over my 920do because of wattage rating of a single stage (-45c @ 250w).
If anything, watch the Clarksdale as I think that will make a bigger difference in gaming/benching than the Gulftown. Merry Christmas and GL.

If you have the opportunity to run i9, I'd jump on it

From what I hear, the retails are doing the same clocks. Never know till its in you're hands or on the market.

For Pi I can't see a real advantage ...

Primes I think will benefit greatly as well as 3DVantage.

Possibly O6 ...... time will tell how retail chips will clock but just from a cool stand point 12 threads will be exciting to see .....

From a few refrigeration builders now I have heard that loads won't be as much even with the extra cores due to the die shrink .... that may and hopfully will help with acheiving great clocks with the same cooling solution.... I truly beleive it will help the air and water guys out tremendously ...... sub zero not convinced it will make a diff other than not having to upgrade .....

Rom makes a great point that beating the 920's will be a daunting task for this new chip. I think we will look back on this sub 200 dollar chip as one of the great CPU's to ever be released in this price range or any for that matter ...... soon we will have a definative answer ........ with retail chips we can touch taste and feel and finally see for ourselves what the capabilities and limits are of the first 6 core retail chip .... It is a great time to be an overclocker ......

Let not forget nV300 and what that will bring to the table as well.

What I would do if I were you and what I am going to do is purchase the X980 and and if it is a great overclocker sell my 920. If not sell the X980 and keep my 920.

You can't compare the 920 with the i9 X980. One is a $200 CPU one is a $1000 CPU

Obviously get the i9 if you can afford it. Otherwise hang on to the 920. If you have reached your limits and want a change, I would say go for the 930. Which will have an extra multi for pushing towards 5GHz

thanks guys for all the helpful ideas
what about mobo?
what is a good mobo to go with?
the new gigabyte ud7? or the older evga or even the asus r2es?

and also just a quic thing there...

is the voltage on the chip too low to go higher?

Thats seems about right maybe a little low.

The vcore requirements go up VERY sharply after 4.4 in my limited experience.
