Not the green team's fault, nor their demands and purpose.

In Europe and Asia ( where the consumers with the ability to buy GTX 680's are significantly less than in the US ) there's good availability, and decent prices.

In Europe since... the Euro currency got introduced, the pricing of computer HW was nearly on a strict " price in $US = price in Euros" ( $499 GTX 680 = 499 euros ).

You can get a GTX 680 starting at 460 euros ( no extras hidden, sales tax included, all inclusive ).

Some shops ( hint hint NEWEGG shenanigans ) just price gouge when they see the opportunity to make the most out of a small amount of cards.

Checked NewEgg for 7970 Lightnings yesterday... and saw the price and said "Oh Gosh!"... but then again... I did a local search, and at the moment in Greece and the UK ( Amazon ) they're asking 700+ euros for it and thought about the previous "Oh Gosh" a two times
