Torch it...like with a torch? The center of the pot?

I have a k-type, but a cheapo so I don't know how far it will read to. Specs say -50 C only.

I also have a nice insulated carafe from the previous coffee pot.

...ohh and a propane torch for soldering pipes etc...will that work?
