I so want a cascade setup. Hell even a single stage will do me over.

The Cascade ?

Well depends on who is building it and how they did it. Some are taking AC units they get from Home Depot and converting them into a 2 stage Cascade. They work but don't expect umber cooling from them, I guess.

Here is the hardest part of it... living near the builder is a big plus as these units weigh a lot and shipping them would be a night mare.

This unit weighs prolly close to 200 lbs.

I have seen many different 2 stage units, some on plywood, others spend more attention to detail. Safety is also a big concern considering the gasses they use for the second stage, usually is R1150 which is very explosive and under high pressure.

My requirements were a clean build so it doesn't look like a bomb ready to go off, and with all the safty stuff. Mine has a blow off valve on the second stage that will kick in if the pressure gets to high, very smart idea.

Next is power requirements. Two big condensors draw a lot of power and if on the same line could start to pop fuses in your breaker box. I am not sure at this time if that will happen to me. If it does I will then layout an extension cord to another wall socket if that happens.

I will not find out about the power issue until tomorrow. After moving these things like I did yesterday it's best to let them sit for a day so all the oil and what not settles back down. If you don't do that you risk having a small amount of oil get into the Evap and freeze there which would cause a clog, not a good idea

These are much more powerful than a SS Phase unit, lots of stuff going on with them.

its as safe as a single stage nip.... your less safe with dice or LN2 benching, as the cascade/single stage is pretty consistent..... and usually qill freeze just the cpu and local area, to whereas you have seen teh ice buildup on a F1EE

i like teh cascade idea as it almost eliminates the need for LN2 except for chips like teh PII or teh likes who wont cold but above -130

Yes Shannon it's allways great to get a chance to met up with you !
You saw it all tied down and covered up tho., it looks much better in the bench room

Diving with that thing in the back was interesting, I could clearly feel the weight of it in the back. It was a very interesting trip that's for sure LOL.
