I tried a different PSU, and the symptoms changed to the 4 LEDS of death....is what I heard it called earlier.

Strange.........hmmmmm......I better test that PSU out tomorrow since this is the 2nd odd fatality that was connected to it.

Sure enough I didn't test out the PSU today.

I tested 2 boards out though with my old Enermax and they worked fine. So I picked a board and installed it on my main bench with the chiller and the Corsair TX850. Well what do you think happened when I hit the power button? It powers for a split second then shuts off same as last night after it quit and I thought it was the board.

So I hook the Enermax to it and try it and of course I get the 4 LEDS of death. I'm going to put another board on the chiller bench with the Enermax and see how that goes.

I'd have to say my fancy shmancy Corsair is junk. I'll test it out later, but I'm not hooking it to any more boards to do it. I'm sure Corsair will replace it, but I'm sure they won't do anything to cover the 3 boards I say were killed by it. I'll try like hell for a upgraded replacement at least.

Not happy.

Default wtf is going on here??

I went ahead and installed yet another Ultra-D on the bench, I hooked it to the Enermax that powered it perfectly during initial testing. Booted right up to XP np when I tested it.

Anyways I spend an hour hooking everything up perfectly and the board is dead now....4LEDS of death. I'm getting really sick of that term. I don't know what the fuck is going on, but it's getting a little tiresome.

What should I do?

I'm going to test the 2 PSUs out with a meter... but, all the voltages look good in HWMonitor and the BIOS with both of them....I check that all the time.

PSUs both test out very well under zero load. 12v was 12 or 12.2, 5v was all 5s, an 3.3v was all 3.4v.......on both PSUs. Old ass Enermax EG701AX-VE, and Corsair TX850.

The board is always fully screwed down, but gently of course, to a removable mobo tray that came out of a case. That is screwed to a plywood base. I don't see how there could be a grounding issue.

The boards worked perfectly screwed to another tray that I took out of another case and sitting on a stool.

It's sure got me thinking.

Maybe these boards were all just ready to die, or perhaps the cold weather transport? They both booted right up and went to BIOS then Windows np at all.

Yes I'm beating this horse to death here, but I really want to play some more and I'm scared to hook up another old LP board. I'm afraid I'll break it and then I will be mad as hell.

Next up is the brand new looking with nothing opened, and a perfect box, obviously hardly used Ultra-D, that I didn't even want to take out of the box. The guy tested it before he shipped it since it had been in storage awhile so I believe it works.

I'll grow the hair to try again while I sleep I'm sure.

So was this all too much reading, or is it just too odd and unexplainable?

I have no idea what you're doing to kill them.
Right off the top of my head I'd say condensation, or CB.
