I do a lot of PC janitorial services, do some repairs and flip HW.

Lately I am thinking I do not know as much as I used to though. Spending way more time on HW now, and OS/SW and SE skills are lacking.

i have a few certifications my self as well but nothing i am doing here is effected by it, A+ is like something everyone is got, and CCNA is like networking and stuff like that witch if i have a college deg then i should be good? but idk...

hmmm...Let me tell you the certifications which are pretty hot and without which you cannot expect to get a job in that particular field(untill and unless you are already in that field), atleast thats the case in India.

MCSE - It tells you about using Microsoft Servers in a network to control Active Directory, setup DNS & DHCP servers, Microsoft Exchange. This is a must for becoming Windows System Admin
RHCE - This is about Unix Administration. And is a very tough course to clear. Most of the big organisations in the world uses Unix servers, so a pretty safe bet.
CCNA - System Adminstration requires one to know networking concepts as well in depth, so even if you do not want to get into networking, this certification or its knowledge would help you miles in getting a System Administration job. If you want to get into networking then there are further courses as well like CCNP, CCIE but atleast CCIE is very very tough to clear, and one would need atleast 5-10 Years of real experience in creating/managing big networks before one can think of CCIE.
OCP - Once the Network and Servers have been setup, the real work of a company/software company starts, and most of these applications need Database. Access really is not even considered a Database in the real world, , though I have used it as well, and its GUI format is so much easier to use, but it cannot handle even average sized databases which contains thousands/millions of rows of data, and is very heavy on server resources, you will never find it being used in any Software company.

But people of our age, or atleast me, I cannot think of studying for anymore certifications. I can only concentrate to study new hardware, , everything else makes me feel sleepy.

well....as for me.....if everything depends on certification then am a noob...but i have been repairing comp for at least for two years now.....got an real BRAT at home[bro] whose job is to break and damage things....so u can say i save world on a regular basis

Yeah I didn't take it that far. School was just boring to me and I could only concentrate on trying to tweak the computers I was on or mine at the house. Only certificates I have are your basic A+ and Network+. Also picked up a CIW Associates. Wish I would have taken some courese when I was young, before all the drinking and druging I did in my 20's!

My main focuses now are small repair and builds, overclocking and Access. I have no interest anywhere else or taking it any further.

I also have A+ and Net+ certificates.

Never got a job in IT based on them. Just get jobs and end up working for way less than I should be cuz, they realize my kung fu and exploit it.
