quick SandY B question for you pros...
BCLK I can not seem to get past 102.7 bootable and ROG connect does not let you BCLK for somereason. Well not in diagnostic mode at least LOL
So I thought I would up the BCLK, and then multi up while in windows to 55x (from 54x)
Instant lockup.
Not to mention 102 BCLK booting at 54X puts me at 5.5 and is just not stable enough for benching. I tried adjusting the skews down like it says in BIOS, even all the way (although did not try positive skew, or for that matter positive skew voltagE)
so is there something I am missing for BCLK ability? Or is that "binnable" too like multis? Or is it that the 55X muli limit (for my chip) is there because that is seriously the limit of the chip?
got my 2D benching done with, but was thinking once I am running a fuller OS for 3D benching I might get the BCLK clocking working via ROG connect, and if I can get 5.6 it would help alot in some of the apps.

Try low pll. I typically use 1.5v. Sometimes up to 1.6. Definately lower than stock most of the time.
Make sure your ram isn't going too high with the multi. But you already know that.
Try shooting past a bit to jump a "bclock hole". They don't happen as dramatically as cedar mills and wolfdales sometimes did, but they do occasionally exist..
It's probably a wall though. And unlike 1366 clocking, post boot overclocking either doesn't work, or doesn't get you further.
My general experience is that SB can pretty much bench anything near its max boot cpu validation if you can keep temps reasonable.

You can also try low SA and IO voltage, like .85v SA and 1.0v IO (or lower even) ... I think in Taipei we were only at 1v IO for 109 bclk.
However, the wall is the wall if its the overall limit of the chip, at 104.0x56 I can run wprime 1024, but 104.1 will not boot, nor can I set it in ROG lol

yeah, the fuckin wall. My chip hits it at 51 Gonna try a few more things cause I gotta save my money for 2011. Hoping something will break this week and I can buy both a new 2600K and the new socket & chip.
Might have a job with my ex companies main competitor .. will know more Monday

Thanks for the tips guys, did not think to try lower SA/VTT but on this board they are one and the same
I tried try dropping iGPU voltage down too, will give low VTT and BCLK jumping a try. My 2600 (nonK) I can get to around 104.5 IIRC, and ASUS autotune sets this chip to 103.5 after trying up to 104. something... but I cant physically set that high a BCLK at high multis

Good to know. If nothing else, run those sticks on auto settings and see where it puts your subtimings, and then you could pop in your hypers and loosen them up a little bit there but still keep your tight mains.
Kids are gone, so I nlited an XP OS. stripped out all non essential stuff but left all 3D and media related stuff in as well as most of the networking.
Need to look up a couple of more tweaks, going to try leaving it in IDE mode instead of AHCI, might hurt storage performance, but should reduce CPU load. In theory at least )
running out to get a 12 pack now and then on to installing.

Found a little more life in my 2600k, 5850 got me over 135k in '01, and with 1600 core on the lightning, got me 181697 in '03
Turns out SB isn't horrible for 05 either, I got my best score today, 5850 on my SB beating 6300 on a 980x lol (53696)

Awesome chip Dent. Great clocks for sure. Who would have though a quad core could beat out a 6 core at that speed.
