I can't comment on Bartx pots specifically because I haven't tried them. And take my inexperienced advice with a grain of salt.

But I would like to comment on mass. Every pot will get you the same temps, regardless of mass. Mass is important in terms of titrating your pouring to a specific temp. Mass + surface area determine the rapidity of response to your pour.

High or low mass is not good or bad, in my opinion. It's a matter of preference and technique.

I've owned an F1 EE, an entry level Duniek DICE pot, and had a custom LN2 pot made (the Patchpot).

The high mass of the F1 EE is wonderful for long benches like spi 32, or especially long+high temp benches like wprime 1024 because all that mass holds the temps stable and you don't have to pour as often. But I don't like it for benches like 3D06 because all that mass is not very responsive to your pour (takes a long time to cool down) and overshot and undershot temps take a while to manifest.

I prefer a lower mass/higher surface area pot (like the Patchpot) for 3D benches where you need to titrate for short term alternating heavy and light loads.

On the other hand, I like a fairly low mass, easy to warm up pot like my entry level pot when going for CPUZ's on Cedar Mills. Don't need much mass for plain old validation overclocking. And it's easier to warm up after a BSOD at -186.

i saw your patchpot...i like it..but i don't have the specs...but it looks like it will drop temps fast...are the holes threaded?

No, the holes aren't threaded. When I designed it I had read someone complaining about bubbles getting trapped in threads and blocking narrow diameter holes. But the more I think about it that wouldn't be a problem with the Patchpot. The horizontal holes form a matrix so that LN2 boils all through the inside from multiple directions.

It's pretty light compared to the F1 EE. I've been working on some plans for the "Beehive" that will weigh a bit more and uses a different design. I'm curious to see if the Patchpot will have enough mass for 12 threaded Gulftown benches. I'll be trying it soon . More mass only delays the inevitable rise in temps when heat overpowers the evap potential. I'm hoping the Patchpot's increased surface area will be able to prevent the gradual temp rise in wprime 1024 using 12 threads.
