Exclamation Cables and Switches - Cheap

I recently reconfigured my system where I now have 3 rigs sharing 1 monitor, 1 keyboard, and 1 mouse. I looked at the DVI auto switches at MC but they were 100 to 300 dollars... OUCH So I started looking in another direction and was quite surprised to find out what I did

My X58 Bencher had an HDMI adapter cable, and my gamer had the DVI connector, so instead of sharing the DVI port, I'm using the HDMI port for two computers with an auto switching... ummm ... switcher

At MC, this would have cost at least $30 per cable and prolly the same for the switch So I looked on Amazon.com

I got the switch for about 8 bucks, a HDMI/DVI cable for about 10 buck, and a 10 foot HDMI cable for about 10 bucks If you're a Prime member, like I am, you get overnight shipping for 3.99, or, free second day shipping.

Such a deal

They are basic cables, but for benching you don't need a $100 HDMI Monster cable

I plug the keyboard into the monitor USB hub and the mouse into the keyboard hub. Each rig has a $10 4 port hup extending to the middle of the monitor and I physically (jeez) move the USB cable a couple inches as needed

Well you don't EVER need the $100 HDMI Monster cable in my opinion. For cable needs go HERE and enjoy the prices!

QFT

I have not purchased anything in a while but monoprice.com generally has some really good deals on cables.

If anyone that tries to sell you a hdmi and says "this one is better," just punch them in the FACE and grab the one that will look the best hanging behind your screen. If your eyesight is good enough to tell the difference, then you probably won't be happy until 1440p format is out.

Not a problem mate! You know a few years ago when I ventured off into the HDMI world I was shocked how much the HDMI cables were. So I decided to test a few of them with different price ranges. At the end the cable for 10 bucks was just as good as the cable for 100! The same think goes for the LCD/Plasma wall mount brackets. the once for $20 do just as good as the ones for $150.

monoprice has some pretty well reviewed articulating LCD mounts for up to $50. Not as cheap as the $20 mounts but you can move the articulating ones all over
