I called Corsair today and told the guy my problem with not wanting to send in 3 sticks of Cas7 DomGts (only 1 bad stick) only to receive 3 sticks of Cas8.
He confirmed that the Cas8 were the standard replacement for the Cas7, so I brought up the fact that the Cas7s were not only faster, but much much higher priced.
He asked if I had a alternative in mind and I suggested that I'd send him only the 1 bad stick of Cas7 and they could send me 1 stick of Cas8 in return. I've already got 6 sticks of the cas8, so that's the p55, the p67, and an X58 all set to go
He, however, expressed concern that I wouldn't have a matched set which could cause conflicts and put a note in their computer that I would send in 1 stick of C7 and they would send me back 3 sticks of C8
That's much closer to a dollar for dollar value, so....
I didn't argue
Had I not posted the death of my 1 stick, I'd have never known they'd screw me and wouldn't have had the chance to negotiate this better deal
